Look at the stripes on the pants from the real life image and compare with the Madden screenshot below it. It just doesn't look right. The lines are supposed to go straight down not diagonal.

I am with you. At this point in time, what happens before and after a play, in regards to animations, is nothing I am am willing to be concerned.

I’m no expert, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it is a necessary position for the way they use linear interpolation in their animations. A default position that, due to whatever foundation was lain years ago, is necessary for the smooth transition between discrete points along the path of the animation.
