I'm going with two GTX 770s, I think. It's what we have laying around. I think they're from 2013.

I've built plenty of PC's before but never a gaming one.

Unless you plan on pushing triple-screen gaming; one GTX 10 series, 8gb higher quality ram, SSD, and a decent motherboard is all that is needed.

I'm still running a GTX 970, 8gb ram, and a smaller 128gb SSD. This setup
can run GTAV modded to all hell at a constant 60fps, Witcher 3 at 60fps, and
Project Cars 2 at 60fps. Most, if not all, settings at Ultra, or high.

The only part of Madden that I can see taxing a decent graphics card will be the large crowds in the game.

The current cards available are past due for an update, so unless you can pick one up at a discounted price, wait for the next batch to come out.
Really, I think people are interested in 4K gaming. And for that, you're likely looking at a 1080. A lot will also depend on how well the game is optimized for various hardware.

1080 or 1080ti seconded for 4K at max settings. I have a 1070, and am able to run just about everything on max settings at 1080p. But I only have a 1080p TV, so getting a card for 4K gaming would have been a waste of money for me at this point.

That being said, you can get by with a 1070 to at 4K, but don't expect max settings or some of the more GPU intensive mods to run smoothly.

So you need a 1080 for 4k max?

Re: What Type Of Rig

Question for you all -

I live in the Apple world because I'm a mobile app developer by day. I'm looking into getting a new system to run Madden on PC. I would prefer any new system be an Apple so I may also use it for work (and also mobile game dev projects on the side).

My question - how strong is the hardware for the iMac Pro? If I bootcamped that, would I have a system strong enough to run Madden?

P.S. - please leave your comments about paying the Apple Tax at the door.

Re: What Type Of Rig

I only buy new when something breaks or becomes painfully obsolete. My current 980 Ti & 4790k PC will last me a long time, especially since I still run everything at 1080p. Although I did upgrade to a 144Hz monitor because my last one was dying a slow death.

TVs can be great for gaming even though everyone will say the input lag is too great. Never had that issue before and TVs usually have better picture quality, especially in terms of blacks and contrast. Way harder to calibrate though compared to a PC monitor.

Actually the GTX 1070ti is one of the best bang for buck right now.

It’s the middle ground of 1070 and 1080 and looks to run things nearly as good as the 1080.
