Re: What Type Of Rig

I have a i7 4790k CPU and a Nvidia GTX 1080ti. It can handle most anything so far at 4k with ultra settings. Remember to not skimp out on a good CPU. Don't want to throttle your sweet GPU with an insufficent CPU.

At 4K, it’d be hard to bottleneck a GPU. If the game isn’t CPU intensive, even 1080p you’ll be okay (I am saying this referencing like an older i5 3570k, not a cheap CPU). However, if you building a PC, then yes DO NOT cheap out on CPU. Especially since you can get the i7-8700K for $349.

If Madden is like Battlefield series though, it’ll be CPU intensive so even more important to not cheap out. (I don’t believe it will be as much tho because battlefield has all the particle effects, etc to deal with)

Re: What Type Of Rig

I currently have an i5 760 and a R9 270X. Yes, very much been on the sidelines for PC gaming for a while.

I plan to upgrade to an i5 8400 and GTX 1060. There will be secondary costs because that means a new mobo, RAM, and possibly PSU. The CPU and GPU comparison sites suggest I'd be looking at up to 2x the raw performance in some metrics.

This is for 1080p so I think I'll be safe for max or close-to settings. Although if the 1070 really can unlock 4K for me, I might consider it.

I also have to consider Cyberpunk 2077 but who knows when that will be out.

What do you guys consider "cheaping out"....anything under a grand?? This is my first rodeo trying to get a gaming PC. Im moving into my new house at the end of July...going on vacation the very next week and then Madden drops. Im trying to hook up the man cave. So i wanna make the right choice.

100% get the 1070ti if you’re considering the 1070. Pretty much the same price right now. Maybe $25-50 diff at most.

You’ll run pretty much anything a 1080 will.
