I’m curious though on everyone’s feedback and take on things after getting all the gameplay videos? We know it’s a WIP and is not the final game but if history tells us anything and with only 3 weeks til gold how much can change from now and then? I’m going to list my issues, annoyances, or concerns as well as list the legacy issues that seem to be unchanged or fixed for Madden 19 judging off these videos, but I also want to hear others thoughts as well... Maybe just maybe it won’t fall on deaf ears for the games release, 1st patch, or Madden 20...

1 - Sidelines and crowd atmosphere has been a huge disappointment with the new frostbite engine. Still no players names on the back of jerseys, generic players, and no authentic crowd reactions.

2 - So, we get foot planting in the snow, but when players dive the snow go’s unfazed and we get nothing. No effects in any weather games like rain or snow besides fumbles, a few inaccurate passes, or a occasional slip. Snow games typically are low scoring games due to the fact there is no traction. It’s hard to run, hard to pass, hard to plant, but in Madden it’s like we skate and have no effects in running or passing. Shouldn’t this weather favor the defense?

3 - Man defense (yes you are all sick of me bringing this up) looked very good (besides the out & up routes), but then I heard it was a glitch in EA play that all the players were rated a 99 in man coverage. So we have the same thing that happened last year with the great zone coverage at EA play and then a totally different game on release. The coverage looked good but still no jostling between DB’s and WR’s (I’d love to see them add fifa’s jostling). There were some great DB plays on the ball though with better and tighter coverages. I also saw great coverage on out’s, drags, and C routes that have been money routes for years vs man. I know man will be nerfed, but hopefully they don’t deviate too far from where they have it right now. Maybe scale the man coverage ratings higher then in years past.

4 - From all the threads and posts I’ve seen we all know about the small heads (the Lamar Jackson was comical), huge shoulder pads, and bended knees. By the sounds of it the 1st 2 will be and can be fixed before release.

5a - CPU punt and kick returners again just run straight forward with no awareness of looking for a hole to run through.

5b - CPU running back’s have no awareness of holes and no ball carrier vision. Instead of taking a wide open hole they juke right or left for a loss of 3 yards instead. To add to this they don’t even use the appropriate move at the right time whether that’s a juke, spin, etc...

5c - CPU QB’s also have no vision of holes. I did notice they had some awareness in the pocket in understanding it’s time to scramble, but instead of running through a wide open hole instead they ran 9/10x into the back of their offensive linemen for a sack.

6 - Robo QB’s are still present. No planting their feet needed, CPU throwing cross body passes 50 yards across the field, etc...

7 - CPU playcalling seemed better both offensively and defensively as far as gameplanning went. I definitely saw some new plays called by the CPU that they have not called in years past. Also saw them call a good mix in different down and distances that they did not do in the past. That being said I still noticed the 4 verts (which led to sacks again) and zero blitzes far too much in all the videos I watched (I watched them all). Unfortunately though it does not appear that we have any CPU AI awareness on adjusting to what the USER is doing either offensively or defensively.

8 - CPU trade logic was horrendous in the Browns rebuild video. Enough said!

9 - Seems like there is no created draft class randomizer option either which wasn’t very well thought out.

10 - OL & DL play is still a dice roll and not dynamic.

I know all this sounds negative and there is no doubt that this game has definitely improved over the last 3-4 years, but it’s at such a snails pace compared to other games unfortunately. Maybe some of these things aren’t easy fixes, but some of them are. Some of these things are simple ratings scales being adjusted properly. It’s frustrating after playing Madden for 30 years to be moving at this pace and to think about where we could or should be. That being said I like the RPM for all 22, the ability to break out of animations on catches, the 1 cut abilities and chaining together moves, the slower game speed, and some other things that were added. All these other legacy issues stand out every year though like a sore thumb and it makes it hard for me to get excited anymore. Playing online I can get enjoyment with the game and enjoy it for what it is, but because of the issues listed above I can’t enjoy it offline vs the CPU. Shoot, a lot of these things stand out online as well. I just can’t help but wonder why aren’t these things fixed or touched on for so many years now?! What’s everyone else’s take or thoughts? I’m sure I’m missing things that bug you personally. I’m sure animations will pop up fast and is up on a lot of people’s lists too. Maybe I’ll go back over this list and post videos, time stamps, and examples of each thing listed when I get a chance to be more clear on exactly what I’m talking about...

Re: All EA Play Videos In 1 Spot - Critiques & Analysis

Hopefully when Madden 19 is released that they fix the CPU QB AI and make sure CPU Are more aware when it's the 2 Min Drill.

The cpu AI might be a result that ratings were not added in the game at EA play. Things like shoulder pads , AI and player specific equipment will be updated at launch

Re: EA Play Video Critiques or Analysis

The one thing Iím seeing from the gameplay vids is how different the game is playing. The movement from running , catching and tackling looks so much better. If Iím seeing the difference, I can only imagine how it feels when I actually play it. Shout out to the Game Changes and especially to KRAELO for allowing this footage to get out there this early instead of waiting like last year.

Re: EA Play Video Critiques or Analysis

I am indifferent to all the videos being showcased at this time.

I see the issues that Van noted, but I like some of the CPU AI decisions and RPM is a looking good.

I know Clint mentioned in an interview that the build at EA Play was 3 weeks prior and was better looking than what they were displaying, but, like Van mentioned, not much will change till street date.

I wish the challenge system was overhauled and punting into the wind. No one is asking those kinds of questions.

Your right, I havnt heard anything about the challenge system or the punting issue. Those would be great if we could get an answer. I don’t believe I saw any challenges on any of the videos ......
