We need to talk about Player Models

This is a very nasty DOWNGRADE from Madden 18.

    Madden 19:

    Real life:

How did this Madden 2006 roided up stuff happen? Were new (far less experienced) artists hired? Is there pressure to make the players look like “gladiators” again? What is this NFL Blitz stuff?

Shoulder pads way too high and too big. Some of the player bodies are way to big. What is going on here?

Re: We need to talk about Player Models

I could be way off but the few examples I've seen on this issue seem to have blurred low res screenshots as examples, like the image was zoomed in, including this one.

This suggests to me perhaps it is an issue with players in the background? i.e. a Level of Detail degradation that results in background players taking on lower quality forms.

This was a player in the foreground. He was the focus after making a catch. It's bad resolution because it's a screen cap from a youtube video. The resolution is NOT the issue.

Look at the diameter of the shoulders. Look at the arm size. Look at the shoulder pad height (and complete lack of a neck). Look at the head size in comparison to the massive barrel body.

          It's the models.

I hope to God you are right, because it looks god awful. NFL Blitz awful.

Although I can't see how a model can possibly be a bug. A mistake? A mapping error? But a bug? I can't see it as some random software glitch. Unless they use a super advanced program to do their 3D modeling or mapping/textures, then maybe, but otherwise, this seems to me that it's just got to be some form of human error.

People complained that the shoulder pads were too bulky and EA said that was a bug at EA Play that will be fixed.

I don't know about the other parts of the player's model, but that should shrink the size of the heads, too.

No, the heads are too small, not too large. It's the bodies that are too large.

I meant is should increase the size of the heads and while the shoulder pads go back to normal.

I don't have my coffee, yet.

Lol understandable. But now that we're on a new page, everyone look at the comparison:

I’m having flashbacks of that one year where the drafted players all had crazy big shoulder pads and that pretty much destroyed franchise that year....lol

Wow, unlike Roadman, I have no excuse since I actually had my coffee today and I completely forgot about that. Not just big shoulder pads, but WR's looked like DT's. I think it was Madden 10.

Surely if it is indeed a bug EA can release some screenshots of it being fixed now?
