Posted this a month ago, looks like to me it is worth a day 1 buy. I'll be trying out Ultimate Team as I have never really played much of it before. Not ideal to play randoms online but it's fine. I'll be alternating between MUT and a Jaguars franchise which will be for 1 season only. Then I'll move onto the 49ers which I'll do a long term franchise for.

Finished a full season in both NFL 2k5 and M07 for the PS2. Both games hold up pretty well in terms of gameplay. IMO at least Madden 07's franchise mode for the PS2/Xbox blow 2k5 out of the water in terms of features (Player Roles, Training Camp, RFA, College All Star Game, etc.)

Madden 04-07 (PS2/Xbox) are some of the best football games ever IMO. Madden 06-09 (PS3/360) don't compare well beyond graphics.

Re: Buying or Not Buying?

I won't buy Madden again until their dev team finally gives franchise a much needed over haul. I have zero interest in playing people online, or buying packs of cards to build a team. I am a franchise player only, and Madden continues to drop the ball in this area every . single . year.

Re: Buying or Not Buying?

Madden 15 was the last football game I purchased.

So I will buy this eventually...however once the first sale comes into effect.

Re: the PS4/XB1X, I have a question.

I don't yet have a 4K TV, but would like to get one soon.

I'm also considering a 4K gaming monitor that I could use with both the PS4 and Xbox. I have zero tech knowledge, though, and am not sure how to start looking for suitable 4K monitors at a decent price) or what things to avoid. Can anyone offer advice or link to a thread that has good guidance?

Re: Buying or Not Buying?

Still maintaining my position somewhere between "Wait & See" and "No Thanks".

Madden 19 is like getting invited to a party by the kid who always claims he's going to throw a banger and it's him, a couple of dudes, and Mario Kart. Sure, you can make it fun on your own terms, for about an hour, but very quickly you come back to reality and realize you hit the peak of enjoyment about 30 minutes ago. No longevity in the night to speak of, and more importantly, any fun from here on out is just the same repetitive stuff.

Kinda a wonky analogy, but it makes sense to me. I plan to heavily wait and see some videos from YouTubers who go a couple seasons deep to really make my decision. Does the AI keep things fun and creative? Or does it flat out go cross eyed and start the QB drafting even though they have three under 25 QB's rated Quick Dev or better? As soon as that happens, my immersion is kaput, and the fun of the game is over.
