Truthfully, I think since we figured out all the tricks to how lowering ratings makes game play better ratings really don't matter. I mean does EA not pay attention to things people find here where lowering certain ratings makes players play better and more realistic? EX... lowering Pursuit for DEs and DTs make for better D-Line play. If people here can find these rating tricks, why does EA continue to hype up high OVRs?

By the same token Cam Newton can get the 90+ for Strong Arm and Scrambler, but be in the 70s for Field General.(Although Moonlightswami will probably lobby really hard to get his boy a higher FG rating than that).
70 for Field General for Cam Newton is way too high. He's one of the dumbest players in the league, and in fact, one of the dumbest people on the planet.

I was just thinking the same thing. That gurley face is horrible especially since now they seem to be showing more players with helmets off this year.

They already are - Kane (and Donny before him) have heavily relied upon PFF for ratings when calculating weekly ratings increases and decreases.

I've always felt these ratings were more manipulated than actually being a representative of the real player.

Player A is viewed as the #1 player per PFF/opinion. Therefore he is rated high 90s, and he is elite at every positional need. Players B, C, D, E are viewed as the next in line for best at their position. But in real life they all have a different play style, they've mastered their craft, but they are more one-dimensional than all-around studs. Doesn't matter in real life, because they fit perfect in their teams and are studs.

Problem is that the game cannot show this for players B, C, D and E. They must also be well rounded so that their OVRs fall in line as #'s 2, 3, 4, and 5.

This leads to inflated OVRs and lack of real difference between players, because B, C, D and E need other ratings inflated to make sure they are at the top of their position.
