Trade rules

I play solo franchise and was wondering how different people handle making fair user-CPU trades. A few things I do:

-Limit trades per season (most teams only make 3-4 max - some outliers)

-Rarely trade for stars on other teams

-Don't load up on 1st rounders. This keeps talent distribution more equal. I only acquire 1 additional 1st rounder per season max (like Browns had this year and Packers have next). However, I try to avoid doing this each season. Maybe once every three seasons I'll target it and only do so if fair value exchanged.

-No trading away or for rookies

-Consider if I'm filling an actual need for the other team

Re: Trade rules

Only trade for players on the trade block. And try to only do picks for a player or vise versa.

My only rule is if you have to ask if it's a fair trade, then it probably isn't

Re: Trade rules

so using that logic Pete Carroll couldnt have made the humongous number of roster moves he made in his first season at the Seahawks. iirc it was a record for a season. i do agree on limits in my offline and a lot of the time i clear cap wasters on other teams as i go
but why do some teams have negative cap after week 1 ...

Ya you're right, def outliers in certain scenarios / seasons. For example, Browns made many moves in this offseason. I'd like to see Colts get aggressive with moves in the next 1-2 years.

Re: Trade rules

i trade away nearly all my players in year 4, an average year would have 2-3 Oline, 1-3 lbers, 1-2 dbs, 1-2 wrs. this year i couldn't be bothered, so at the end of this season i lose wrs #1/#2/#3, db #1/#2, rolb #1, hb #1/#2, lt #1, c #1, rg #1. resigning numbers were horrid even with a HC with all the abilities. I did resign fs #1/#2 and mlb #1, as the draft class is pants and there are no obvious candidates to trade for. would be nice to find a safety with high 80+ ZCV, rather than convert a lb/cb.
so these guys will go into FA, i get no compensatory picks and dont have a 5th year option to exercise, they are RFAs and i only have 1 tag available to me.
rules are fine however the environment in madden is not like the nfl, so the rules have to reflect the lack of flex available, i cant even restructure a contract.
