I see this every year, and it is always now true. The game clock does not run if you are not in the game, even if it is running in the background. The console knows that game is not running on the screen.

I've tested this every year. Now, if you use power saving mode and just turn off the TV, the game is still running. But if you are in instant-on mode and switch from the game to TV, the game clock stops.

There was one year when the clock was broken. The result, for me, at least, was that I think I got about 20-30 hours out of the game.

correct, as long as you are a subscriber you can play it. $15 per month or $99 for a year.
