That makes sense, if I have that correct.
That is correct.

As an example for the Bears I have Hicks and Goldman as rushDT. Floyd and lynch as rushDE. And Trevethan and Smith as the SUBLB.

I have Terrell Edmunds as my subpackage ILB making my dime a dollar defense with 4 CBs and 3 safeties.

And I have Antonio Brown in the slot when I have 3 wr on the field.

So, you can move you're ends to tackle and pass rush olb to end. The problem is that they come in on 1st and ten. I am thinking through formation subs it is going to be necessary to have a couple formations where you do not want to bring in pass rushers.

Balancing carries between 3/4 running backs is way easier. Id rather use specialized positions than formation subs for that.

Can WR's play in one of the RB spots yet? They could be 3DRB last gen. Also sounds like S can be sub LB which I'm all for. Nice to see there is a logic behind the rush ends in a 3-4. What determines when they come in? Formation?down and distance?

From what I've seen so far, defensive subs are based almost exclusively on formation.

Offense is a little looser, and I think it might be influenced more by fatigue. I've had my 3RDRB line up on 1st and 10 for a zone out of shotgun, but had my primary back line up for the same play and formation on 2nd and 8.

This isn't anything creative but the Rush DE position helped me find a new starting DE. I had a decent stable of DE's but late in the draft I saw a LBer with B+ finesse moves and dine other decent attributes. I moved him to end and he had 3 sacks on around 20 snaps against the Seahawks. I have some great corners so that helped but this guy was getting pressure on almost every pass attempt. I really like these new positions.
