I could go along with 16 as the best but not 17.
16 had a lot better cpu qb AI.They acted like the line of scrimmage was a brick wall and never took off in all of 17 until late in the cycle of 18.

Patches did screw some things up but if I remember pursuit angles was a problem ootb.

16 fully patched last time i made it through cfm more than 2 years. Good times gameplay wise. Franchise has been stale for years.

M17 defenders were completely helpless against aggressive catches. It was the first year of a new user mechanic, so I can be forgiving, but it really spoiled game play. Even if you don't spam them the option is always available to you in high leverage situations and trying to play without them is a non-starter for what I hope would be obvious reasons.

I really like the tackle mechanics in Madden 17. The game also ran very smoothly and I appreciated all the work that went in to zone coverages. However, since Madden 20 allows for more precise ball placement, has improved WR/DB interactions, (excluding off-man coverage) and improvements to situational gameplan play calling, I'm enjoying M20 more.

I played that game the whole cycle and literally don't remember what I did in that game. It was really forgettable to me.

Was it 16 or 17 that the QBs wouldn't scramble?

I remember playing Aaron Rogers one year in the playoffs as SF and thinking how sad it was that I never had to worry about him running on me despite my being in MCV a lot. I think that was the year I made it 5 years deep into CFM, but I can't remember which year that was.
