Madden 17: OOTB, with No Patches is STILL the best Madden game ever made.

I think this is obvious for those who know real football. You can actually put A-Dub's plays to use, via 2nd-controller work-around. Game feels much better.

Visuals, sure.

Franchise mode was much better a decade ago.

That's the only thing that gives the game any replay-ability for me, aside from occasionally hopping online to play my nephews.

Well over a decade at this point. Madden 05 is still the best one in my opinion.

Gameplay on PS2 was fantastic and the career mode with houses, practices, drills, movies, interviews, etc was awesome.

Pursuit angles were bad plus the qb didn't take off,bad qb AI. Fully patched '16 was a better game. '18 fully patched a little better than '17 imo.'I haven't played '19 yet.

Kinda early to say that, considering 19 technically hit the market today. Honestly, it's hard to say what version is best OOTB within the first week of the new version. You need time to get your bearings and figure the new one out.


OOTB there were issues with 17, as there are for any game. QB's sucked, defense couldn't pursue, run defense was terrible. It played way better after patches, for sure.

That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed 17.
