Quick scheme question for you guys!

Starting my 'chise and was wondering if I should simply select the 2 schemes (off/def) that put the % the highest?

the % match helps, because your players actually have different ratings based on scheme. For example, Dak Prescott is an 83 overall if he's in a scheme for a scrambling QB, but my offense is vertical threat so he's only an 80. The better scheme fit, the more boost your guys get. They also get XP faster that way.

What I can't figure out is, when it comes time to negotiate a new contract for, say Prescott, and you remain in that vertical offense, will he want to be paid like an 80 OV QB or the better 83 OV QB which he could easily become at a moment's notice if you decide to change your scheme?

I assume they want pay based on their “true” overall, in his case 83. I say this because he is 83 everywhere, and only an 80 in the depth chart

I changed my schemes to basically obtain the highest percentage fit.... no one's ratings changed.

Because you're looking at true ovr not scheme ovr

Depends what you're looking for... most matching scheme or most XP/SP?


Madden 19 does not show Scheme overall for you or the CPU, it shows their highest scheme OVR so you have to go to the player tile to see the breakdown. Matching Scheme % is where a player is within 3ovr of the desired archetype, so you could have 100% scheme fit but actually only half your team benefit from weekly training XP boosts (it's a lot, the equivalent to being quick/star dev).


If your goal is to get the most XP in a sim way, then look at the specific players you want to develop (young players, higher dev players etc) and set your scheme according to their archetypes. If your goal is to get the most XP in an unsim way, change your scheme prior to weekly training to best match the two groups you're about to train (QB/TE, QB/WR, HB/OL, LB/DL, DB/LB, DB/DL etc). Then change your scheme back.
