Resigning Carson Wentz...?

I'm in my 2nd season of my CFM with the Eagles and it is now time to resign Carson Wentz. I was offering him more than the "fair" amount that is already listed but the salary of 20 mil won't increase. The figure goes blank and then moves to 550k. He kept saying he wanted more in salary so I just tried to give him more bonus to make the total contract increase but he eventually said he wasn't interested any longer.

Is this a glitch with the salary being capped at 20 mil?

Has anyone else seen this or have been able to resign Wentz?

This is very frustrating... as I guess I will have to franchise tag him..ugh.

During CFM go into edit. Then contract/salary. Change it to the max for $. Then whatever amount of years you want. Eliminates the glitch

Yeah it's always been their salary limit at 20mil/season for some reason.

Hopefully it's time and a sign for Madden's contract system to be reworked. I had the same problem and I hated going editing his contract because it just felt wrong.

He's not worth 20 mill a year, let him go....
Sign a younger guy for 4 mill a year and keep on trucking.

Well yeah... The draft picks have slotted contracts now. Once he gets a new deal he is going to make 30+/yr

I had the same issue with another QB. And manually editing his contract felt like cheating the system. Here was my solution:
I let the QB test out Free Agency and I found that I was the only team able to sign the QB back to my team (assuming you have the cap space available to you). It didn’t feel like cheating as other teams made offers, but no where near the Fair Price offer.
So, where I wasn’t able to re-sign my QB for 7 yr / $20 mil salary per year / $12.5 mil per year signing bonus, I had no problem signing him in Free Agency for less money ( 7 yr / $20 mil salary per year / $10 mil per year signing bonus). It sure made for an interesting off season story for my team and that QB.
If you don’t believe me, create a save from the point at which you are at, and then sim to after the season and try it for yourself.

Sorry, I should’ve said that I had no problem signing him in Free Agency. Other teams made offers, but the offer scores were below 90 (which I think means 90% of fair offer value).

That's not what 90% means. The offer you gave would make him the highest paid player in the league. Especially considering it is a 7 year deal and those just don't happen in the NFL. It's nice that it's possible to sign them like that, but the issue remains that Madden needs to allow us to offer as much salary as we want to players. 20 mill was fine a couple years ago but with the salary cap increasing by 10 mill every year and QB salaries going through the roof we need more freedom and it is a very very simple fix for them.

Agreed, I'm not sure how much the salary cap goes up every year in CFM, or if it does. I need run a sim and check that out, but we need a living breathing league where at least every couple of years there are market setting contracts signed. 20 mil is definitely not enough anymore, the contract system as a whole needs an overhaul.
