Madden 17 vs. 19

Is there any reason to upgrade from 17 to 19 if using standard HD TV?

I keep hearing about the tackling in 19 being more WWE style than it was in 17 which I've always hated, and that RPM looks worse than 17.

When I watch videos I cant tell the difference between 17 and 19 other than menus, etc.

What are the pros and cons?

I have 17 as well. I biggest difference for me is the Sprint button function. 2017 doesn't have the One Cut which I think sucks. The fatique factor also isn't in 2017 which again, I think sucks in 2019.

The player motion I don't think there is a huge difference. The speed threshold which is in 2019 can be a factor if you like it. I do find games more competitive in 19 than in 17.
You just have to play 2019 and judge for yourself.

Cpu QB A.I is 100% better in 19 and it isn't close imo.

Each madden game has it's pros and cons. Sure madden 19 sucks in many areas but overall i would prefer the newer animations and graphics and updated rosters. I still prefer the newer madden, there's always something better in it that the previous

Everybody has different opinions but I think '17 is the worst version of the last 4.'18 is a little better. I'm particularly fond of '16 gameplay but franchise is a little bare but '19 at this point is the best overall package this gen.

On the other hand Tackling is 100% worst on madden 2019 as they removed the physics completely and all tackles are scripted animations.

M17 was the most fun I've had playing Madden since ... maybe ever.

That said, I've moved onto M19 and find that good too.

I enjoyed Madden 17, despite it's flaws, for 2 years. After all the updates to Madden 19, I'm enjoying the game more so than I did 17. CPU QB play is better, WR/DB interactions are vastly improved and the one-cut mechanic truly makes you feel very connected and grounded to the player you are controlling.

The combination of physics/animations is tuned more heavily towards the animation side in Madden 19, which I don't like. However, the WWE-style tackling in simulation mode has been drastically toned down and at least there is the feeling of momentum present.

Perhaps the most important tidbit I can leave you with is that this game feels very different to play than any other previous edition. The only way you are going to know if it's for you is to have hands-on experience with it.

Madden 17 seems to still be my favorite this gen, but after all the patches, 19 finally is no longer a hot mess. I kinda like it.

well I finally downloaded 19 and I have to say I'm disappointed at first glance.
I only play CPU versus CPU so I can't say anything about user controls.

visually, The star icons underneath the players is ridiculously annoying and the yard marking on the field is distracting as well.

Other than that, for the most part it looks like an exact duplicate of 17. Even some of the announcers lines are exactly the same.

I won't give up on it after one game however so far I don't see anything that is better than 17 except the 2018 draft and the addition of upcoming draft players.

I'm pretty amazed that so little has been done in two years to improve the game. RealPlayer motion? I don't even notice it.

This is the reason I've stopped playing 19 and gone back to 17.

I gave up on current gen Maddens and went back to 12, found a 2018 season roster. Add NCAA 12 draft imports. Having a blast

Madden 19 is the better game hands down. You can always adjust sliders to get the game to play how you like.
