It always amazes me that no one remembers that. I will say though, it could be because it happen right after the bigger news that EA got the exclusive deal for NFL, so this flew right under the radar.
Besides Advertising, they don't really take advantage of ESPN license. I'm on both sides when it comes to using broadcast presentation in video games. Where if they use it, then they have to go all out including using analysts from that broadcast. But if they don't use any, then it allows them to less restricted to follow a certain style.
But I wouldn't want ESPN as a broadcast presentation for Madden unless it was apart of a package(Fox, NFLN, CBS). I don't mind the "Madden" presentation since it would be real expensive to do a package and wouldn't want just one. I liked Espn for NCAA Football 14 and it is decent for Live( commentary sucks and audio could be better). But for Madden, their problem is that its presentation is suited for online play
