3 Modes: Tournament, Seasons, and Franchise

I've been thinking of possible solutions to players that want button presses to dictate results, and others that want ratings/experience to be what matters. If my starter gets hurt, i want to feel that and dont need it tuned because gamers that timed the tackle right complain it didnt play out as they wanted. This is something that NEEDS to be addressed. Some debate often that the game is broken because of this, when the issue is, that is what happens in real life due to alot of different variables.

Madden needs a seasons, as well as, a tourney mode that is separate from franchise. Let players who just want to cheese or have the gameplay match their button press for perfect outcomes, regardless of ratings, have a 1yr SB run or online/offline tournament. For others that want a full franchise/team building experience where, regardless of timing different outcomes play out, let that be franchise mode. If this happens, then EA will solve so many issues imo. Trying to please two separate crowds of gamers with the current setup is never going to work and hasnt been. I thought that was what the play styles were for originally, but that is just a piece of the problem and doesnt work as intended.

Have tournament be for competitive players who just want to h2h and play however. Let seasons be for those that want to run a team for only a year just to grind a 16 game schedule and SB run. Finally, let franchise be more about ratings, schemes, coaching, etc.

Make these offline and online, and let players have at it. I could go deeper, but i feel members here know how deep this rabbit hole can go. CFM, is just not working for everyone. Separate so you can build separately, and i think it'll make things easier longterm. If tournament guys have a preference, tune it. Same for Sim players who want to be forced to build a team and let the results dictate how we draft or use players. If we want it more about true to life, tune it that way. For tourney guys that arent really into that, but still want a season to play, make it seasons with tourney tuning.

Right. That would be so different from what we have now, how?

If the Sim, Comp, Arcade modes really differed then that would help with your complaints here drastically. However, from what we've seen on PC, those modes are hardly different at all, not near as much as any user on OS would hope it would be. With mods we've shown how much different you can make each gameplay style play, but who knows if EA is ever going to make them dramatically different like they probably should.

Between Play Now Live and Simple Season - functions both added into the game starting with Madden 18 - I think the people who just want to smash through a single season of NFL football without worrying about personnel, injury management, etc. are more than adequately covered. Adding a separate Season mode on top of that is a waste of time, IMO.

Tiburon is already addressing your concern. Per data mining of Madden 19 PC, the Simulation game style does not include the "perfect user execution" thresholds you're alluding to and fearful of. They are indeed present in Arcade and Competitive (the game style for ranked online head-to-head games outside of Franchise). For example, using Madden 19 for reference:

- Using the Simulation game style, there is a chance to throw an inaccurate short pass with no pressure and set feet even if your QB has Short Accuracy 99.

- Using the Competitive game style, there's a threshold rating which will guarantee perfect passes if met or exceeded (I believe it's 85 for Short Accuracy? Might be 90.).

- Using the Arcade game style, apparently all passes are perfectly accurate if there's no pressure and you're not moving, regardless of player ratings.

I assume that Madden 20 will behave similarly, with the additional logic of X-Factor and Zone abilities now also affecting the outcome. For example, Aaron Rodgers has the Roaming Deadeye ability, which grants him perfect accuracy on passes - ignoring his ratings entirely - if he throws a lob, touch, or bullet pass while standing outside the pocket and not under pressure.

Madden 20 also sets out to accomplish player differentiation further via spreading out player ratings.

I agree they should add a tournament mode inside the game, with an ability to be assigned a random team but I don't see much point to the different playstyles mentioned because we already have that in sim, competitive and arcade.

Im in wait and see, especially with the xfactor thing being new. I just want them to Really differentiate the game modes and give me some authentic and organic gameplay struggles. Currently its either nerfed difficultly[all madden] or too easy

I think a tournament mode for online play would be pretty cool. Maybe include some round robin, double elimination, or even a best of series modes. Get some of the fun of playing in a small league with friends, but with a much lower time investment.

Your post brought back memories of me holding Madden parties many years ago where we would play round robin tournaments in person. What a blast that was.
