Rating the BEST MADDEN Games of ALL TIME...

For me...

PS2 Maddens from 05 and up for franchise mode and overall package.

PS3... 12 was my fav. Just something about it. It was the one ps3 Madden that reminded me of ps2 maddens. You could switch teams in offseason, hire/fire coaches including coordinators and expanded rosters with hidden Rookie ratings in preseason. Ability to create teams and use it as an expansion team in franchise.

PS4... 16 was fav until now. 20 is just fun!

EW Madden 09 was the worst of all Maddens with Brett Favre on the cover. This was the year he moved to the Jets but they couldn't change the cover in time. It felt too arcadey and unrealistic

Loved 09, my first NFL game on previous gen.
The gameplay, training, everything just felt right.

PC only, no console could ever eclipse a PC version we can mod.


With editors like Maddan AMP, NZAs Editor and MadWolf as well as sites like maddenteams dot com, I was able to create 2 completely custom leagues that included all fictional players, coaches and teams, which I then shared with the Football Freaks community. Heh, they may still be available some where on football idiots for all I know.


Overall, the ability to mod a game, any game and fix, edit or add features the developer removed, omitted or screw up makes it 100% better than any console version, ever.
