    How do Challanges work?

So there have been a lot of fumbles and/or catches i want to challenge and when I go into the menu, it is always greyed out and says 'nothing to challenge'.

Then, in the 3rd QTR, my rb fumbled the ball with like 4 min left. Then the game had 'BOOTH REVIEW' pop up and they reviewed it and overturned the call of fumble correctly.

But I thought the rules were booth reviews were only for TDs and 2 min and under in the 2nd and 4th qtrs.

So how does this work? Or is it completely up to the game to challenge plays for you?

All turnovers are subject to only booth reviews. You can’t challenge a turnover anymore. This is the NFL rule, not a Madden thing. Probably been 4-5 years now.

That said, Madden's implementation of this rule is pretty terrible.

Something obvious, like an INT in the middle of the field, we don't see in real life...the booth reviews it and rubber-stamps it while we're in a commercial break or quietly behind the scenes. Anything mildly close, they announce the review and results.

I'm fairly certain Madden only shows us the review scene when the game's already decided to overturn the call...we're never informed the obvious INTs and such were reviewed if the game is actually checking it behind the scenes (which I doubt...would be redundant). Every so often, I HAVE seen a review process displayed and the call upheld, but it's pretty rare.

The problem is, the challenge button is always dithered on turnovers because of the rule. So if the game doesn't stop play and trigger the review animations, that turnover is going to stand.

So technically, yes, a coach can't challenge a turnover by rule. But in real life, the booth does review them all. Madden doesn't, and there's no way to stop and demand that it does.

I became mildly surprised I could challenge a out of bounds play and I won the challenge.

I love how the crowd and commentators give us the answer to the challenge before the refs. Awesome immersion.

I wouldn't care if challenge was there as long as I knew the right call was made. Let's face it , the AI should know
