Breakout Challenge for Corner backs

So my star Dev CB got a breakout opportunity to get to superstar. You have to either hold your opponent to under 150 passing yards which is pretty difficult lol or get 2 of any of these ints, sacks, force fumble, tackle for loss.

What is your strategy to achieving this? It's pretty difficult it seems. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah it's weird how they measure cornerbacks. Normally the metric used would be catches allowed or yards allowed. Instead you can have a shutdown game and still not meet the goal. If the offense doesn't throw your way and your defense gets burned your SOL. But pointers would be get really good at usering or do cornerback blitzes so you can get the sacks or tackles you need to hit your goal. It's annoying how arbitrary some positions get rated by in madden.

Did this with William Jackson III. Long methodical drives help, and then selling out to stop the pass. I got lucky vs the jags to get this one. My drives are usually 10+ plays so that helped. Although it was still a struggle because on the last drive they could throw the ball with ease. Finished at 142 yards, or something close to that, on the day

corner blitzes from the slot to get them sacks probably your best bet

Yeah i did this and also user-ed the CB so i could blitz when there were other opportunities. Your best best is getting a couple TFL's in the run game and maybe a sack

Nah, it's stupidly easy with a LB. Just blitz them a lot and they'll get the two TFL or Sacks easily.

With a corner getting two picks is a lottery so you're better off just moving them to the slot, or SS in a big nickel and blitzing them all the time until they get the TFL or sacks.

The one superstar breakout scenario I have gotten with a CB was in my 32 user franchise. I put that CB in the slot and called different blitzes where the nickel CB goes until I got the 2 TFL needed. I hate the way they handled breakout scenarios, instead of it being a 1 game goal it should be spread out across several games. With it being a one game goal it promotes force feeding and stat padding in online leagues, we have had guys literally selling out to the point where they are trading wins for breakout scenarios.

I mean it depends on how you play the game. They can be easy if you sell out just to get the upgrade

Yup pretty much every position is easy to get the breakout scenario if you sell out for it even if that means you give away the victory to do so. Which in an online user league may be worth it a lot of times because it's about making the long play not the short term.

If it's for a corner then you basically have to sell out, because of how much more difficult it is compared to the LB breakout games. It just isn't balanced at all.

Like Sho said, it's a half-assed addition as is often the case with new features in Madden.

The need to change breakout scenarios to be multiple game goals instead of just a 1 week goal. You know how many 1 hit wonders there have been in the NFL that have a big game only to go back to irrelevancy. I would actually prefer that they didn't even tell the user a player is on a breakout, I'd rather see it just have goals in the coding under the hood and then after a fee big games you get a message like congrats your player has broken out and is now (insert dev here) dev. It would get rid of a lot of the force feeding that I've seen in my online league.

I definitely agree, they definitely pushed this into game to soon. Like WR and RB devs are easy but others are much harder but then also does make people force feed to one guy in a game. It ultimately cost me the playoffs force feeding to a WR in a game I lost. By end of year, I was half game out of playoff race

Some are just harder than others, plain and simple.

Some are contextual though...

My next game is against Chicago (with the Raiders in 2019)... Jacobs is up for this, but be needs 3 TD or 150 yards (rushing / receiving). That’s gonna be a tough feat against that defense.
