Any? Yes. Many? Yes, all things considering.

I’m not playing Madden 16 but I am playing Madden 17 on X360 since it and Switch are my only consoles. I’m having a really good time as Austin Murphy, CLE Browns rookie QB In a player connected franchise. We’re 6-1 in the 2016 season so far.

M17 was the last Madden with "real" coach mode (only real coach mode was HC09). I try to keep coming back to it, due to all the improvements over M16 CFM, but the patched version is just too easy in Year 2.

[Tangent: Year 2+ NEVER plays the same as Year 1. I have NO idea why...been driving me crazy ever since I noticed it in M16. Either way, I've learned that you have to play Year 2 to get a sense of how the game play is. Sadly M17 patched Year 2+ is just not challenging enough for me in coach mode.)

I do sometimes come back to M17 Out of the Box version, since it maintains fatigue and difficulty that was in M16...but the game play is not nearly as good as M16. So I go back and forth.

Also, I finally got M20. Yuck. Played all default AP and the QB always seems to make every pass with a 90%+ completion rate. No coverage! Maybe it's just me, but as a new user, that was the first thing that struck me after three games. Sorry, but even great QBs should not be 100% 20 for 20 after 2+ quarters. I just gave up. Way better than M19 for sure, and I'll come back to it, I bet, to give it another chance, but for now I'm sticking with M16 or M17 OOTB. Just something about those versions where the game was...simpler and more straightforward. Best way I can put it.

Got M16 from EA Access and I’m going to try a career mode on it.

Do you mean M17? If so, back during when M17 was "hip" there was a group of players who thought OOTB was a better game than the final patched version. For OOTB, it obviously didn't have a lot of the patched improvements, but it did offer more of a challenge...namely because it kept in M16's fatigue system and Home vs. Visitor adjustments, if you will, meaning it provided more of a challenge when playing as the visiting team. Also OOTB gave the CPU a way more challenging (albeit OP) run game, which improved the challenge.

I have tried so hard to like M17 patched, but when Year 2 comes around, it's painful gameplay. CPU has no running game unless you guess pass on every play and AP clearly is tuned to favor the USER. M16 was the last Madden where I felt AP default was a challenge.

Hope that helps. M17 OOTB is not perfect by far, but I always felt it offers a bit more open competition versus the CPU if you can stomach the flaws. Personally, I look for a challenge and M17 OOTB offers that more than patched.

Cool! Hope you enjoy it. My advice is every time you start a new CFM to delete the profile and start a new one. Don't ask. All I can say is the profile in Madden has a huge impact on game play. So I always start each CFM with a new clean version of it. Either way, if you can get past the outdated CFM and UI, you might really enjoy the game. For me, it was the last time Madden was simple and fun and challenging.

That’s what I really want when I sit down to play a game.

The only thing I don’t like is the XP system. I much prefer the newer games where once you finish a drill you don’t have to play it again but can sim it for the value of the highest medal you’ve earned. I’m not a fan of playing the same drills over and over for the higher XP that in-game drills give you. Guess I need to really up my consistency rating. lol

I will say that the lower XP you get in Madden 16 makes for more longevity in a career mode CFM because it takes longer to level up.
