(Based on combination of how long I played each {M20} and wow factor {M11}. Madden 11 was my first console game ever, and I'll never forget that game.)

To me, it's Madden 20, Madden 16, and a whole lot of mediocre games, with Madden 12 being (by far) the worst of the series (exempting the massively buggy M25 for PS4).

Madden 12 was the last Madden game was a competent franchise mode. Easy vote.

M13 is far worse. I tried to go back and win a Super Bowl in every year from '02 on. I quit when I got to M13 because the franchise mode is AWFUL. I couldn't get past the pre season. I am sure they have video game kiosks in hell that only allow you to play Madden 13 CFM

Fully patched the game is still a heck of a lot of fun to play with a good slider set. I am still playing Madden 16 to this day.

You do need 32 team control to manage multiple years of franchise so you can do all the XP distribution for every team to keep the league balanced.

I simply play single classic roster seasons.

Madden 25 on PS3 is also a lot of fun to this day.

Easy for me to endorse Madden 25 (PS3), Madden 16 and Madden 20. Those three along with NCAA 14 are more than enough for me to enjoy console football for a few more years.

I hope to see some real meaningful gameplay and Franchise improvements on PS5. But I have firmly made a decision to stick with my PS3 and PS4 for a few more years. I simply have so many great games I still love to play and have yet to play.

M12 still holds a special place in my heart. Even though its gameplay is tough to go back to in some regards (i.e. super-jump LBs), it can still play an engaging, challenging game of football with some slider tweaks. Franchise-wise, it has a handful of features we're still pining for the return of (coordinators, proper stat tracking on player cards, etc.). It also had a handful of experiments that only lasted one year, such as hiding rookie ratings in the preseason (this has never been a huge want for me, but I understand why it is for some others) and the timed free agent bidding system (not sure if I'd say it worked well in practice, but it was certainly an interesting concept).

I'm strongly considering going back to that game and starting a 49ers Franchise sometime soon. I'll see if I can change some of the history of the Harbaugh era.

The only straight-up "bad" aspect of M12 I can remember off the top of my head was the Johnson/Collinsworth commentary. I never remembered it being particularly good, but when I popped in the game recently for the first time in a long time, I was shocked at how atrocious it was. Also, if you never downloaded roster updates while the servers were still up, you're stuck with the pre-lockout rosters.

Along with M12, M16 and M20 would probably round out my top three from this decade. M17 was a game I loved when it was the most current title, but its gameplay has not aged very well.

I’ve said this before but... 20 is my most played one since 16. 17, 18, & 19 I just wasn’t feeling it.

12 I sometimes prefer for two reasons. I absolutely hate XP in a franchise. It’s for single player superstar kind of mode but imo doesn’t fit for team management modes. Also like that in 12 you can basically have an expansion team by creating a team and making them a cupcake. I just wished that at least they would have left 12’s franchise mode in when they started CFM. We’ve seen other games have both.
