How do the 3 Pass Block Ratings Work Together?

I have a player who has both pass block finesse and power at 88 and pass block at 83 and he has been terrible. Does the generic pass block rating put some sort of cap on the other two? Iím wondering if anyone knows how these three work in tandem.

Does agility have an effect for tackles as well?

Inquiring minds... I got a STAR 92 OVR left tackle who has given up 10 sacks over 3 games! His strength is in the 90s and all his blocking stats are green. Actually only stats that aren't green are the ones that don't matter for linemen .

What’s his awareness?

Some of it seems nonsensical but I was told by a developer years ago that awareness acts as a huge modifier on the physical ratings.

Thatís weird to me because it seems like I can plug anyone at LT and be fine but my RT constantly gets my QB mauled

Re: How do the 3 Pass Block Ratings Work Together?

As I understand it;

Pass Block Finesse: Used against Finesse pass rush moves.

Pass Block Power: Used against Power pass rush moves.

Pass Block: Used in sims. Possibly also used when no specific pass rush move is used against them?

And the various other attributes like Strength, accel/agil, Awareness, Weight etc. Factor in to different degrees based on the situation.

That’s what I noted down after looking into it when I picked Madden 20 up. It might not be correct but it makes sense from the various dev snippets and code leaks it was based on.

Edit: I’d also note that for me it depends on who I’m up against. I have a decent Oline with tackles who will hold against most players but if I’m facing someone like Miles Garrett or Bosa I need to throw within about 2 seconds or I’m getting sacked in the pocket, even if they’re not in the zone. Those elite pass rushers really are elite thanks to the new abilities.

A defensive end can have similar attributes but if they lack the superstar abilities I typically have much more time.

I just have to be aware of who a I’m facing and adjust my gameplan, which makes sense.

From https://www.ea.com/games/madden-nfl/...ings-breakdown

Pass Block
The ability of a tight end, running back or offensive lineman to block a pass rusher who does not utilize a pass rush move.

Pass Block Power
The ability of a player to block against a defender who uses a power rush move.

Pass Block Finesse
The ability of a player to block against a defender who uses a finesse rush move.

Interestingly, this would seem to set up scenarios where not using a pass rush move would be statistically optimal, such as in cases like yours, where PBK is significantly lower than PBP and PBF.
