Didn't the curse usually relate to a poor statistical season or injury? Which isn't uncommon considering the nature of the sport and that cover athletes always make it after a career season. And career season aren't often repeated in a sport with such short career lengths.

Injury was the key component of the "Madden Curse”. Mahomes did get injured but it was not season ending. And of course he won the Super Bowl MVP.

Curse broken.

It’s usually the 1-2 yrs after being on the cover where something strange happens.

From day 1, I thought the curse was all about injuries occurring shortly after the cover athlete on the cover, this is the first time hearing about the curse being about the SB.
