I knew about the franchise engine, but only to a small extent. Figured that once they moved to different engines and different architecture that it would affect franchise. Anyone who was a tiny knowledge of coding knows it isn't as simple as copying and pasting old code or devs being lazy.
FranTik(or however it is) has allowed them to not lose features. But the main issue with Franchise is they haven't put emphasis on it. I never blamed MUT or online features. I just blame the focus on modes like Longshot and Face of Franchise. That took away from Franchise. Besides this year, we mostly just got 1--2 simple things from community wishlist in the other years.
But, I do think we will see am overhaul with next gen. This should be the time to anyway. I like Mike Young and Haumiller. I always preferred NCAA to Madden. Think that Moonlight Swami can make a difference. With Looman gone, I see them going away from the Connected Franchise style. I do think this is the year we get Coaching Carousel. If NHL got it before Madden, then I'm sure we'll get it in Madden.
Good idea starting this thread. First next-gen madden would probably be 2021. That leaves us with what will this years version bring us? It's gonna be interesting reading peoples thoughts on this !
Awesome video. Appreciate the link. This explains a lot... I've personally been of the believe that a larger team would be a positive, but it looks like that's not the case.
On another note- the amount of bugs in QB1 is astounding to me. Tried it a couple weeks ago and every college game I had 10 men on offense, FBs playing Slot WR, O linemen at outside WR. It was a total joke. Tried it a few different times with the same result. A back of the box feature in a game like Madden that has bugs that are that obvious 7 months after release is mindblowing to me.

I'm surprised you don't recall the same conversation we had here from a year or two ago.lol

Yeah, every long time OS Madden forum visitor should have know within the first couple minutes of the video who the source is.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.
That was one heckuva long thread and pretty much verbatim from that thread.
Hard to imagine that was almost 10 years ago. I could only imagine what franchise would have looked like in 2020. Apparently the answer is a lot like it did in 2012.
I like the plan they have in place now with a dedicated Franchise engine so that features never have t be rebuilt, but I dont like Connected Franchise as a whole. NBA and The Show currently have the best franchise modes, and those are setup the old school way. I dont want to be forced to create a character in franchise mode, I just want to have it play out like im god-mode controlling a team, or multiple teams, all seamlessly.
The other problem is they arent even rebuilding the features they had, these are all completely new features with their own new ideas. We dont want a new franchise mode, we want Madden 04-07 on Xbox or Madden 12 on 360 franchise mode, but with a current era finish on top of it.
And because of that, people grow tired of waiting like myself, and stop buying Madden. Well if we stop buying it, the number of people playing franchise drops, and they stop putting as much effort into it. So what, we keep buying it now to invest into the plan so hopefully its where we want it to be in the future? We arent investors, we're consumers. If we dont like it now, we dont buy it now, plain and simple.

I’m enjoying franchise mode in Madden 20 significantly more than I have The Show. Really isn’t anything in The Show that I wish Madden had.

It doesn't appear you listened to the video link in the OP. At the 3:40 mark, the interview with former EA developer clearly states, it took way to long to rebuild everything every time they switched over. ie from Madden 12 to 13, from xbox to xbox 360 from 360 to 1 etc...
As far as your last paragraph is, that's right, if you aren't happy with the direction of the game, personally speak with your wallet. For each person that has done that in the last decade or more, it appears there are two more newer buyers to pick up the slack as evidenced by the 7 million in sales.
