Madden 20 - Is it worth 28 Bucks?

    Hi there!

I didnt really know where to put this question so I started a new thread. My bad if I did overlook something.

So, Madden 20 is currently available in my country for 28 Euros. Ive been playing Madden for a couple of years now and was still using Madden 19 the last time I played a couple of weeks ago. I really dont want to pay EA that much money for their laziness regarding developing Madden, but I think that the 28 Euros (should roughly be 30 Dollars) is a solid price.

The question is: Is it worth it? I only play offline Franchise mode. I think, there are some nice new or tweaked features but not that much new or improved. I'd only buy Madden 21 as soon as its published if the CFM got the overhaul it needs. Is that realistic? Were there some announcements I missed? Should I pay the money to have updated rosters and stuff or should I wait till August or so?

Just get it on EA Access. It's already in the vault. You can get a year of Ea Access for $30 and you'll get tons of games. Or you can get 30 day free trial.

But yes, it's definitely worth it. This game (like every game) has flaws but it's a ton of fun and the graphics are stupid good. I've played 475 hours of offline franchise this year.

Best version in a while in my opinion. Last two versions I played were Madden 15 and 18. I like the refinement of their new development system introduced in Madden 19.

It pisses me off sometimes but that’s every madden, I would say to snatch it up. Hell usually by now I’m playing 2k basketball since nfl season is over but nope I’m actually still playing madden

I’m actually jealous. To have not played this 100s of hours and go in fresh while on lock down for a pandemic? Completely worth it.

The only thing though if I'm not mistaken with EA Access is that once it's over you don't actually keep any of the games. Isn't that right?

It’s worth it, just know that at about 7-10 years in your franchise is going to consist of almost every team being equal unless you manually intervene

Yeah but in less than 4 months the new game will be out.
Even if you go month to month on Access, you'll spend $15 vs $28 with the 30 day free trial.

                  Thanks for the feedback!

Well, EA access is no option, as I really dont think Id use it upon playing Madden. Also, I probably wont buy Madden 21 until thats on a discount, if at all.

But I think, I will pick Madden up. Should be worth it, even though I propably wont invest several 100 hours as you guys

My point is that Access isn't great when you never OWN the game.

That’s why I usually do a year or 2 of one team to try and win it all, then I will go to another team and start over

But why own the game when you can get the new one in 3 1/2 months? If you gameshare then the new one will only cost you $30 anyway.

For what it's worth, if you pay $2 more and get 1 year of Ea Access you'll have all of the vault games, including Madden 20, and you'll get Madden 21 at the end of January and have 2+ months to play it as part of that $30. Do your thing, but at this point in the cycle, paying $30 for Madden 20 alone isn't the best investment.

Well, my point is, that I don't follow the cycle. I always wait until I really know what I get from a game. Especially with a new consoles generation coming.

Well, first of all I have over 20 different sports games from over the last 15 years that if I hadn't owned them I could never go back to and try new mods. But secondly, and perhaps more importantly, because I don't rate a game's worthiness of being owned on how long is left until the next one comes out, if for no other reason than the fact that sports games are pretty notorious for NOT improving from one year to the next. In short, just because there is a new one doesn't mean it will be better. Just look at NHL since 2015.

@Marmemole A game (or anything else) is worth whatever you're willing to pay for it. Do you have 28 euro that you would regret losing for a bad game? Then don't buy it. But considering games are very likely to NOT come out in sports titles at their usual times for the next year or so, Madden is generally perceived to be better this year than in several year's past. And the lack of sports will likely make people keep updating rosters all summer.

Watch NON-COMMENTARY gameplay videos on Youtube. Does it look good to you? Does it play realistically? Does it look like with slider tweaks you could get it where you want? Nobody, really, can answer the question other than you.
