That's only if you bought the disc version for PS4. If you buy it digitally on the PS4 you'll be able to get the free upgrade on the digital only PS5. At least that's how I understand it.

Heard that same thing 7 years ago. Hard discs aren't going anywhere for a long time.

What about if say I buy the Disc Version but buy the game Digitally on ps4 will I still qualify for the free upgrade??

I need to get the disc version because It's. My only way to watch my dvd's & blu-ray movies i own

If not for those I would buy the all digital system..

So if I buy madden digital on ps4 then buy a disc version PS5 would I still get the upgrade?

This thread is pretty misleading.... All that's saying is you can either upgrade disc to disc, or digital to digital and not across.

But if you buy Madden 21 on disc for PS4, you'll apparently run into an issue if you opt for the PS5 digital edition. EA's press release notes, "Physical discs cannot currently be used to upgrade to discless consoles." We don't yet know if there will be a new Xbox without a disc drive--it could be the rumored Xbox Lockhart--but at the very least, those who don't care about a PS5 disc drive (or simply opt for one because it's the only model they can find in stock) could be locked out of this free upgrade.

If you plan ahead, you can avoid this headache by simply buying Madden 21 on PS4 digitally.

Awesome I might have to go that route so I can avoid paying another $50 for the game..

Another question I have is if I got a disc version of madden on ps4 but get a ps5 & buy madden on ps5 digital or disk would my ultimate team stuff still transfer? Or any game progress transfer?

I have no idea. I assume since all of MUT is cloud based (I think, i dont play it at all), or if you have a Cloud save CFM, theres a chance it would carry over. But theres really no telling if the 2 game versions are completely different until EA says something..

Just wondering why? Were you planning on buying a disc on PS4 but getting the discless PS5? Or Buying digital on PS4 but wanted a Madden Disc on PS5?

It’s not like madden has great trade in value

If u a collector just wait til it’s dirt cheap to buy physical

Misleading? I don’t think it’s misleading at all. It’s a very accurate title and would apply to quite a few folks.

I for one am grateful he posted the information with the subject line he did.

I was planning on going diskless but this may very well change my mind.

I’m not at all understanding why him telling me to beware is misleading.
