Check the replies to that tweet. This game and the X-Factor cartoon cards are getting destroyed on social media. Whoever contrived this marketing campaign should be fired. And we still apparently have 'The Yard' to be announced officially.

Those cards look awesome! Just wish they were for Super Mega Football instead of Madden!

I like the cards. I don't know why anyone woupd complain about them since it's just a picture.

The artwork is great art, nothing against the artist himself but the message it reinforces just weeks after the NFL handed EA another exclusive ‘sim’ license is the expansion of over the top abilities and the pulling back on ‘sim’ features. The backdrop is the #fixmaddenfranchise campaign it’s worth remembering.

I think the cards are awesome pieces of art. I think this was a cool idea whoever came up with it. I don't see the issue at all. We need some fun in the world right now. Looking forward to the freight train ability with D Henry.

RBs always got to get their love and abilities. I wonder how*powerful*the run game will be this year compared to last?

Yet Clint spoke about this very topic on stream. He was very clear that while the marketing may portray things a certain way (and he too acknowledged the awesome artwork), that the abilities are NOT intended to be "superhero powers" but rather as differentiators and that they have been working hard on achieving a better balance this year. (Yes, we'll wait and see how well they did the job without a doubt - but I DO think the gameplay guys are trying to keep a balanced environment overall - and THAT is the most important thing for the overall health of this game).

As an aside, we also know from one of Swami's tweets that abilities in the live roster are not going to be the same as in CFM (he cited two very specific examples of this). Of course the "roster must be perfect" "sim" kiddies will still (foolishly) use roster updates (that are DESIGNED FOR PLAY NOW/H2H REGS) in franchise and will have to reap the consequences of THEIR decisions to use it - but that's entirely on the user and has no bearing on this discussion.
