I want to say "Maybe they have a lot saved for the next-gen version in franchise mode," but normally the launch title version is barebones in comparison.

It's actually more likely that one won't even have a franchise mode.

But it IS a viable mode...maybe not for you, but it is for many others. That's what I'm getting at; people DO genuinely enjoy it (and suggesting that it should "end" in spite of that, is disrespectful to those that DO enjoy it).

I can give you a laundry list of games and modes I don't think are "viable" that many people here would staunchly disagree with; but I would never suggest that they should be left to die when there IS a definite player base for them. I simply just don't engage and focus on the things I DO like.

Re: EA Keeps Fumbling Madden's Franchise Mode

Just had my first moments with the game and I can't believe this is the product they put out for franchise this year. It has been a bummer in the past however this has to be the worst effort ever. Seems as though they just basically updated the rosters and stopped there. Maybe I'm wrong. I just can't justify buying this game going forward if this is how they are gonna proceed. I remember being so optimistic for future franchise's depth when NFL Head Coach came out years ago. For older sports gaming fans like me-hopes for a legit, deep, visually pleasing football sim are fading fast...

Franchise mode sure is fun in Madden 2000. This is the first year since 1998 I'm not buying Madden.

And I'm trying to make the playoffs, so wish me luck!

Funny, I haven't bought Madden since 1998 (I picked up 09 used in the bargain bin, but I don't know if I ever played it).

I love Madden NFL '98 though, like extremely. No franchise mode, but fantasy drafts were fun and it was cool to be able to play with the dirt infields gridiron the first few weeks of season mode in SF, SD, and Oakland.

Fair play if you are still enjoying watching the head coach pace around his office like a caged tiger. Or looking at an empty draft stage. Or game planning for about the fifth straight year the exact same way. Or getting hyped for a playoff game that has absolutely no presentation worthy of the playoffs.

I salute you if you are.

I just bought Madden 06 for PS2. There are so many features in franchise mode that never made it beyond the PS2.

I thought that at first, but when they provided their commitment strategy it's clear there was never a plan to do something special for next gen in terms of franchise. I think we will see a graphical upgrade and better loading times and that will be it.
