How exactly will the next gen free upgrade (dual entitlement) work?

If I buy a physical disc for PS4, once I get a ps5, do I simply insert the disc and it downloads a digital ps5 version?

Apparently not because on EA’s website it says that if you buy a disc your dual entitlement won’t work IF you get the digital console without a disc drive. Of course implying that it does work with a normal console

You would use the disc and then download the digital version

Presumably you'd have to keep using the disc to validate it on launch, otherwise people could just keeping passing the disc's around.
