Ive been toying around with this stuff since at least Madden 16. At least until 19/20, you could use the generic Spread playbook with a quarterback with such traits and routinely throw for 5000+ yards and 45+ Tds a year (Sadly, they've taken that option away)

On the old maddens, it used to give us the option to set our pass and run % and how aggressive or conservative that we wanted our team to be, but that was taken away some time ago (cant remember when) so the playbook that you use (and the scheme to a certain degree) is the only control we have.

It used to puzzle me as to why I would build a team that was 90+ across the board, but put up lousy records or get beat in the playoffs by a 70-80 rated team, or why my qb (despite being like a 99) would never throw for over 4000 yards. So I started looking at the end of season stats and started paying attention to the teams that were putting up high offensive and defensive numbers, taking note of the top passers and what they had in common. (The traits)
What really confirmed it for me was when the Titans drafted a QB who was a high 60 overall scrambler and he threw for 4600 yards and won all the offensive awards, including ROY and MVP. I looked at his traits and sure enough, he had Throw Ball Away, Ideal Sense of Pressure, Ideal Force Passes, and Tight Spiral.
Just a few questions:

- I'm still on Madden 20 using custom draft classes for a 32 team CFM simulation that keeps up with real life. Should rookie quarterbacks be set at Throw Ball Away and Ideal Force Passes and Pressure?

- I seemed to notice on Madden 20 that tight spiral is there for all QBs and I don't see a way to remove it.

- You said ALL DBS should have aggressive ball trait, is this just the starters or every Corner & Safety? Same question for Draft Classes, should I give all incoming corners and safeties Aggressive Ball Trait?

Re: How to be successful in franchise BY SIMMING

This is an example of how I set up my teams. Make sure that you have the right fits personnel wise: (once again, for SIMMING)

QB-ideal sense of pressure, any force passes (depends on your offensive scheme), tight spiral (preferred)
HB- best you can get with at least 76+ AWR, BCV, and CAR
FB- doesnt matter
WR- good and fast for the most part
TE- same as above
LT/RT- 76+ AWR, 85+ PBK
C/RG/LG- just get the best you can get

ALL OF DEFENSE- High Motor Trait

(Any 3-4 Scheme) (Nickel corner does not play in sim unless hes subbed in at SLCB)
DE/DT/OLB - Bull Rush Trait, mid to high 80s blockshed, 76+ awr, higher power move than finesse move (prefer 76+)
MLB - Highest AWR and blockshed combo you can get
DB- 76+ AWR (higher the better) best MCV and ZCV you can get, 90+ SPD, ACC, and AGI, Aggressive (preferred) or Balanced play ball trait
FS/SS- same as above, best tackle rating you can get, Aggressive (preferred) or Balanced play ball trait

(4-3 schemes) (Nickel corner plays, LOLB doesnt unless subbed in)
DE/DT- Bull Rush Trait, mid to high 80s blockshed, 76+ awr, higher power move than finesse move (prefer 76+)
ROLB/MLB- Highest AWR and blockshed combo you can get
DB- same as above

Depth Chart:
(Im currently using TB offense and defensive playbooks)
Multiple Power run
Base 3-4

QB
1- Best with above traits
2- Next best

HB
1-Best (ratings wise)
2- Next best or fullback (whichever is better)
3- 3rd rb or fullback (whichever is better)

FB
Best rated player between FB (i dont use one), 2nd rb, or 2nd TE

WR
1-Best
2-Next or 2nd TE (if hes highly rated at wr)
3-3rd best or 2nd TE
4- 4th best/ starting TE/2nd TE

TE
1-Best
2- 2nd or FB if hes better here (for multiple TE sets)
3- FB or 2nd string LT/RT (for power sets)

LT
1-Best
2- Starting RT
3-2nd best LT

LG
1-best
2- starting RG
3- backup LG

C
1- best
2- backup C

RG
1- best
2- starting LG
3-backup RG

RT (needs to be best OL with high PBK and PBF)
1- best
2- starting LT
3- backup RT

The reason I set my OL like this is that during the preseason, it guarantees that my starters pretty much play the whole game, just switch sides. Its also important to put your best OL at RT because the other teams' best pass rushers will be lined up at RLE.

Defense:

LE
1-best
2-starting RE or 2nd best DT

RE
1- best
2-starting LE or 2nd best DT

DT
1-best
2-backup or backup RE/LE, whoever is better

LOLB
1-best
2-starting ROLB
3-backup or 3rd MLB whoever is better

MLB
1 and 2- best (starters)
3- backup MLB or backup OLB whoever is better

CB
1 and 2- best (starters)
3- backup CB or backup FS/SS whoever is better
4- backup CB or backup FS/SS whoever is better

FS (prefer him to be the fastest db i have, because of the 1 high safety looks that i like)
1-best
2-starting SS
3- backup FS, backup SS, 3rd CB whoever is better

SS
1-best
2-starting FS
3- backup SS, backup FS, 3rd CB whoever is better

K and P
1-starting K (I always want him to be best, so i let him do both jobs)

KR/PR
1- best (haven’t found a solid formula for this, just get them fast with good BCV i guess)

KOS
1 - starting K

LS
don’t care lol

SPECIALISTS:

3DRB
1-Best rated or starter

PWRRB
1-best rated or starter

SLWR
1-best rated WR or fastest WR

RLE (looking for best FMV here)
1- best starting OLB or with higher FMV

RRE (looking for best PMV here)
1- other starting OLB or with higher PMV

RDT (looking for best FMV)
1- best rated RE/LE/DT
2- next best

SUBLB
1-starting mlb 1/starting FS/starting SS whoever is best (make sure the FS or SS has at least 80 TKL)
2- starting mlb 2/starting FS/starting SS whoever is best (make sure the FS or SS has at least 80 TKL)

SLCB
1-highest rated defensive back (pay attention to COV ratings and TKL)

WHEW, I’m sure there’s something that I forgot. Please don’t hesitate to ask for any explanation or for clarity! Good luck!!

4-3 defenses do seem to net more consistent results, but i have been successful with 3-4 defenses.

Playbooks wise
(3-4) I tend to use Base 3-4 scheme most often
NE (sims as a 3-4)
BAL
CHI
TB
PIT

(4-3) I like to use the Cover 3 and Quarters schemes mostly
SF
SEA
PHI

If youre creating/editing players, I wouldnt give them all the good traits. Reason being, if you want realism, you want to have a variety of players. For example, I wouldnt give all defensive players High Motor because in real life you have players that are highly rated but "takes plays off." Dont give all the QBs the best traits because you have QBs that are good but inconsistent (like Kirk Cousins).
Ideally, the best QBs should have the Ideal traits because thats what makes them better than the others, their consistency and decision making. Sprinkle a couple in for the later rounds/undrafted (your Tom Brady/Kurt Warner types)

Youre right, I dont think that we can edit Throw Away or Tight Spiral anymore, they have to have them already.

As for my DBs, I try to draft/sign/trade for as many as I can that has the combination of Aggressive/High Motor (at least 4 for my starters).

Hope this helps! Please ask more if need be!

Re: How to be successful in franchise BY SIMMING

how do I scout for those QB traits you mentioned? I just have to hope they have it?

Same question for CB traits.

Do you have SPECIFIC offensive and defensive schemes (not playbooks) you recommend for a team like the Giants Im totally rebuilding and dismantling? Im keeping Saquon, Engram possibly, Slayton, the OL and Xavier, Peppers.. everyone else is expendable. Especially QB.

I was going to try a vertical zone run (bills or titans playbook) and a base 4-3

also have you noticed any difference between sim-ming week to week vs fast mode sim (in the game)?

As far as I know, there’s no way to scout the traits (just hope that they have them lol). Most of the time, I just go over the free agent list after the draft to find an in drafted qb and keep him on my weekly training list until it’s his time to start.

One thing I like to do is make sure my scheme fits my oline more than any other group (offensively). The reason is that there’s more of them and the better rated they are, the better your offense will be. The other positions will produce as long you have a the right people in the right place (from above).

Looking at the giants roster, I’d think vertical power run would be best just starting off because most of your OL are power blockers, your RG is a Pass Protector (move him to LT) and id look to draft a replacement at RT. The only person this scheme excludes is Saquon, but he’s awesome no matter what scheme he’s in lol.

On defense, looks like Lawrence, Xavier, and Peppers are your cornerstones, so I’d recommend either base 4-3 (moving Lawrence to DT) or base 3-4 (leaving everything as is).

Yes, there are differences between in game sim and the way I typically do it. The in game sim relies more on the actual ratings of your team for results ( although there is a MEAN way to absolutely abuse this mechanic lol, I’d better not get into that), whereas the sim from the main screen follows along what I’ve been posting here.

I usually end up trading for Quentin Nelson and moving him over to RT because the draft doesn't usually have a franchise LT/RT w good pas block consistency. Andrew Thomas is good but his Pass block is like 68 so takes a year or two for him to improve.

I find usually the offense is fine, but the defense is CONSTNATLY having issues. So guess need to focus more on LB and CB?? Tough to find studs at CB especially, possibly might just move a FS/SS to CB even without scheme fit
