If you edit rookie names before OR after draft, are their names called?

There no longer is a search function so forgive me. However, I would like to know if there is a DEFINITIVE answer on this.



I've heard that changing rookies pre-draft makes their names never be called, but doing it post draft will give them an audible name as long as it's a common one.




Is this true or not? What IS true regarding this topic?

Has anyone figured out a way to get the announcers to say the rookies names from generated draft classes?

They say them on offense for me. Haven’t heard any on defense though. It’s nice because I’ve been simming year one, retired clown Gase and starting over as myself and drafted a QB in the first round.

Did you edit them before or after the draft or did you just leave the names as is?

Leave the names as is and on offense they say them.

I have never heard defensive players drafted names called in game.

I had a generated rookie with the last name Wilson. I edited his body and face predraft, his equipment and position post draft.

His name was said.


After I edited his FIRST name (to make a Zach Wilson), no more saying of his name.




I also tried with a created player. Nothing.

If you edit first or last names they will not be said. It doesn't matter if you edit the name before or after the draft. It's very disappointing since Madden20 worked perfectly (on offense) and they really expanded the name database.

Side note: this should be solvable on Madden 21 for PC. You should just be able to use the Franchise editor and copy and paste a presentation ID.

Of course, Madden 21 PC doesn’t have the graphical update of PS5/Series X, which is asinine, since top end PCs are still more powerful. Of course, they probably did it this way either due to limited time or as part of an agreement with the next gen consoles to funnel PC players into buying them.
