    Next Gen Player Movement

Most of us sim oriented players can agree if next gen improves one thing it's player movement. No more taking a dive and turning it outside and up the sideline with regularity for example. No more usering, leaving your zone and not getting punished.

    However...

There's a huge push back online from the "competitive" community to get this altered. I've seen things like "I have no control" "I have less control" "I understand the intent but it's overdone"

All of these things and the constant flow of complaints puts us on a path to sure fire change for the worst. Wanted to make a thread to voice the opposite. Don't change a thing! Aside from defensive coverage A.I (specifically safeties).

Players actually feel real now - and when they get a step there's no suction warp magic for the defender to make up lost ground either. It's incredibly refreshing.

Please EA do not turn this into a twitch fest with "more control than ever" nonsense.

According to Clint they won’t be tuning it back, we’ll see. Hopefully the investment they made into next gen stats will keep them from caving in.

They said the same thing about the nerfed user this year. It took them 1 month to change it back.

I know, that’s why I said what I did about hopefully the investment in next gen stats will make a difference on next gen.

Such a shame - I mean the no life sweats will play the game tirelessly regardless and will stay up late looking for ways to exploit it.

I find it humorous that speeds are reflective of on field data now and now that players are running at turbo speeds the comp players have a problem. Absolutely comical

I really don’t think they’re going to change it, like I said they made this huge investment in next gen stats to drive the player movement. If it weren’t for that it would almost be a guarantee.

I think they'll look to really redo defensive coverage next year. It's really exposing how bad it is.

                  Re: Next Gen Player Movement

I’m loving it and I’m an online player and of course it could be better with a few tweaks to like someone mentioned above “safeties” as they’re just not existing past a certain threshold on deep plays.

This is what you’re gonna see online form the competitive guys who can’t adjust to the game like they would tell us when we complained. My team actually feels authentic in they’re style of play and nothing really scream “arcade” to me at all.

I know it’s just been a few days and maybe that new car smell will take a little while longer to wear off but as of now I feel they should build on what they have right now and listen to the proper feedback about issues and address them and leave us feeling all giddy again and “man can’t wait to see what they do next year”!

I was afraid of this. I don't have a PS5 yet, but planning on it next month after the Christmas craze dies down. So is Madden 21 next gen on disc too? As much as I hate to pay extra for Madden 21 next gen, I'm afraid it's going to be patched out before I get my hands on the current version.

I doubt it lasts that long even bigger publications like Forbes have writers that are trying to push this agenda. It's pathetic really

I'm hoping they build on the next gen player movement and not go back to what we had last gen. This is a start of the right direction and the first time I've started to enjoy playing again in a long time.

                            'Copy paste from youtube'

I’m hearing that the game feels better this year. However, the animations need to match the feel. I’m still not seeing the “lean” , i.e the turn radius of the players still looks very stiff. As players turn corners, it should be a gradual arc, not those quick (in this case, slow) twitch direction changes.

Player models seem to have absolutely no representation of separation of upper and lower body. The upper and lower body are not moving independently of one another which is why the running animations always look like a mix of a mannequin and an “android”. It’s like the torso area is fused into one body part, allowing 0 upper body “twist” if you will.

I’m not sure how they managed to represent this on PS2 during the 05 - 08 years, but it was represented very well. After the move to next gen from PS2, the player models, while of course looking better graphic wise, went completely stiff and less organic, and they’ve been that way ever since.

Whoever has a relationship with the devs, please let them know this. It seems they may have a slight understanding of what people are talking about, but not a full understanding.

With that said, I respectfully suggest, as I’m sure 22 is already in development, that whoever is working on the player models, to take a week or two, strip the skin, muscles down to the skeletal system and ensure that the lower lumbar region has separate points of movement. Thanks.

I hope to God they don’t change the feel of it, it’s the biggest improvement they’ve made all generation! I know the pro gaming players are all about twitch movements and all but this feels so much better.

If they want unrealistic movements again, they can play Madden 20 or the current gen Madden 21.
