An Outstanding Reddit Thread on Offensive Linemen

    https://www.reddit.com/r/MaddenUltim...nsive_linemen/

Improve the performance of your OL with probably the best breakdown I've seen which summarizes the relevant ratings and mechanics surrounding how blocking wins and losses are determined.

If you play MUT, this may be helpful, but in Simulation, “Delta” between multiple aspects including OVR’s, positional ratings matchups help to drive....
    1) Die-Roll/Win-Chance
    2) Animation Triggering

AWR rating has a muli-functional purpose with OL as it....
    1) Impact Targeting Speed of blocking targets
    2) Cumulative summarization Unit Blitz pickup capability (TE/FB/RB included)
    3) Modifier upon formulas
    - this what makes it difficult to nail down exact metrics/data point/thresholds etc, as unless you’re a Dev thats work with this, no one knows how much

The other major difference is that MUT doesn’t have/use several of the mechanisms that Franchise internally applies to/against OL that play a role in determining the “quality” of an OL.
    1) Regression (Age, Goals, Injuries, Confidence/Morale)
    2) Bust application (hidden to User)
    3) Progressive Fatigue mechanism

Some notations mentioned may run parallel across Modes, but just wanted to note/show how Franchise Mode can/will function differently from MUT on various internal gameplay functionalities/applications as a way of making each Mode different.

Here’s a response from Clint as various Blocking stats functioning in Franchise.
**totally missed RBK usage with non-OL blockers in User vs AI games, I’ve been incorrectly applying OL Block ratings trying to improve ST Blocking, now I know

Very interesting how weight, strength and stats affect each other.

The things described in the link have the same effect in every game mode (except for simulated games in franchises, but that's another topic).

I just wanna make sure I'm understanding this right, since I'm terrible at anything math related.

If I wanna run a zone scheme, it's better to get larger, stronger OL, even if they lack the lateral agility and RBF skills that agile OL have, because the bigger and stronger OL get more RBK wins, regardless of things like RBF and RBP?

Could anyone confirm if I have that right or not? Thanks!

Edit: I'm asking for someone who plays offline HUM vs. CPU franchise only.

High strength is always a big added benefit, but you really do need high RBF to run an effective zone scheme. I run a zone scheme but I have a couple of power guys on my line and they aren't great on the zone running plays. They have high strength so they have a good initial win on the snap, but on a lot of plays they'll get shedded quickly and I'll be held to a 2 or 3 yard gain.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Re: An Outstanding Reddit Thread on Offensive Linemen

Was interesting to see the thread touched on the importance of awareness, but did not mention one of the most important things regarding the rating as it relates to O-linemen. Assuming the formulas and player evaluation haven't changed since '18, the Center is the most important piece of an offensive line's awareness as a whole.

But there’s a catch. Any offensive lineman will tell you that the unit is only as good as it’s center. Thus, the Center’s awareness rating counts 2X relative to everybody else, and his rating will modify the total average up or down by replacing the AWR rating of the lowest rated lineman in the unit. If you want your O-line to play together and recognize those heaters in protection, you’re going to want to make sure you have that critical cog in the middle who can get his linemates on the same page.

Most OLs in this game have the power archetype though, kinda sucks if you want to be more of a zone scheme.
