Next Gen Route Running

Just looked at some NFL film show casing some top wr route running and I have to say these that are displayed on next gen are very close to realistic.

Out routes have been automatic in previous versions. Now if you don't wait until the receiver gets closer to the sideline after his cut, the db will make a play on the ball. Double move routes are sick. You can now pull the defender away from the play while in zone or man due to his momentum. I am really liking the player momentum and movement on next gen.

Yeah the animations are smooth. Too bad the defense still can't catch up.

On previous gen I could hot route OBJ to do a quick 5 yard out when I saw the DB was backed up in zone. It was an easy 5-6 yards every time. Now on next gen the DB jumps the pass for a pick 6 most of the time. I need to practice this play and work out the new timing or maybe it just doesn't work now. One of my money plays is gone. But....at least the AI seems better on this particular scenario.

Really wish it was more adaptive and would perhaps allow this to happen a few times and then adjust and push the DB up into press coverage where I could then possibly catch him off guard and get a deep one over him. I know, I know...deep passes are easier anyway but I like the idea of setting up the defense via strategy if I could.

Ici22 u hit it dead on the head. Im lucky to have this next gen console and with all this horse power id like to see AI note over then graphics play out on Madden. I want to fear Derrick Henry and account for T. Hill.

I played the Pro Bowl and AFC Jackson went a lil crazy on me. He double juked the DE out of damn shoes! Thats the kind of game play I want to see out of Next Gen. Thanks for posting ur thoughts on this topic.

I agree that the WR motion is excellent in this version. It would be nice if other aspects of the game get the same treatment, including every position and Franchise upgrades (including more freedom for player model modification, and of course, bringing back audible name calls for edited or created players).

If you edit a player, or create a player, and give it a common name that is called by the announcers (including generic draft players), for whatever reason, the player's name is never called again.


For example, if you draft a generated rooking named Lance Wilson, the announcers will say, "Wilson, back to pass," or something like that. If you edit his first name to say, Lance, then the announcers will say, "The quarterback, back to pass."
