Main issue is defensively

Oline I might have two cheap backups at G and T..

One solid backup HB and one bad one

WR only 3 wr’s play legitimate snaps at a time so at most maybe 5 WR’d are needed

I like having 2 solid TE’s

How many LB’s do you exactly need? For some reason my backup SS is always playing a lot of snaps.. and my backup DE’s barely play

Does this have to do with my specialists? I normally put the highest rated players at each specialist

I keep 6 DL (2 at each position); 4 OLBs, 4 MLB, 6-7 CBs and 4 Safetys. I play 3-4 so I keep the extra MLB. I make sure my backup SS is a quality player because he always gets snaps in the Jets D.

I will hand-rotate my offense and defense. Sometimes I’ll start the 2nd half with some changes. I always try to get the rookies some playing time in franchise. And if I’m getting blown out or vice-versa, I always put the backups in for the extra snaps and that stupid injury that might take out a starter.

2-3 Safeties
6 LB
3-4 DTs
The unusual piece is DE. I have a run stopping LE who moves to DT in sub packages, and bring in another speed rusher. So the roster is

1-2 LE
3 RE
Plus one K & P of course.
Extra space might be for players with specific skills such as returners, or keep the roster low so I have flexibility for FA additions.

Back up Strong Safeties are often used as SUB-LB by default, so that's probably where all of the snaps are coming from.

Same here and I play a 3-4.

The only difference is I carry 1 FB

And 3 TE’s

One less OLB

Yes. My sub DTs are LE, DT1 and DT2. My sub LE is my RE1 and my sub RE is RE2.

The other benefit of this when actually playing is that the OLs can't build their resistance as they're facing multiple DLs. That won't matter when simming, but getting the right players on the field will.

I really like the idea of a 50-51 man roster w/ built-in flex for INJ. I always kinda hate having to cut a guy I'd otherwise like to develop in order to account for a 3-4 week injury. I think I'm going to adopt this going forward.

Do Quarterbacks still get injured with only 2 on the roster? I’ve seen way less QB injuries on Madden this year

Yes, at least on NG. I played against Nick Mullens and he got injured and they only had 2 QB's on their roster.
