From Madden 20 to Madden 21 Next Gen - worth it?

The load times and menu navigation are slightly faster, which is nice. But given the power of the Series X, it should be even quicker. No reason for it not to be. It's definitely not optimized. Hopefully next year's will be.

EDIT: Also, the whole "always online" deal limits you from using Quick Resume, even if you're playing offline Franchise. Pretty dumb.

As someone who will call EA out about Madden I can only say that the next gen movement and atmosphere is certainly a step up than current gen. There are certain nuances to the next gen version that make it worthwhile but at this point it’s a upgrade worthy game for which dual entitlement was meant for. It’s not a whole new game although I think 2k isn’t as welll. My son has next gen Madden brought a used digital disc and parlayed that to the free upgrade . He paid 20 .which is about what it’s worth. Again I can’t go back to current gen simply because of the realistic movement. Are there glitches? Yes is there still some warping and odd animations ? Yes but it is what it is. I have gotten sucked in by the graphics and movement but EA has a chance to earn my dollar next year with a better Madden if it’s the same ole Madden I will get a used cheap one and keep it moving like I’ve been doing since Madden 12

Right now it’s $30 bucks basically everywhere.

I can tell you that on next gen the weight of the players and how they move is pretty incredible.

That alone makes this game VASTLY different from M20.

I never played the ps4 version of M21, only ps5. I still can’t believe the difference in how the players move. I haven’t played enough to realize the games flaws - I’m sure it has them - but to me it’s worth it. Also hearing a patch is coming to address some coverage issues.

My point is, if I had sprung for next gen as soon as it came out, I would definitely be hanging up my old version and playing with my new toy exclusively. I’ve personally never been so into an offline franchise that I wouldn’t ditch it for the new system warts and all. But hey, you do you.

If you played it though you would quickly realize the new toy sucks compared to the old toy. The newness of it doesn't make it better. It's disappointing, but it is what it is. This is what we get when getting SpongeBob in the game is more important to EA than getting the game to not drop frames constantly.

Next gen looks and plays so much better that I'm not playing current gen anymore, nor on PC at 5120x1440. I prefer playing it on the Series X because of the improvements mentioned in other posts. If PC doesn't get this version next year I'll be moving on from my Origin subscription and only playing it on console.
