In man coverage, when the linebacker is covering the running back, why tf does the linebacker rush the quarterback if the HB runs a delayed route?

Because he thinks the back is staying in to block.
LBs with better PRC, Awareness, and coverage ratings are more likely to realise the back is running a route, and cover it.
There are some good PA passes with TEs on delayed routes, which can work well. -

Usering the LB that covers the RB can help with this too. RB routes aren't too hard to predict and you can react however you want when the RB stays back.Comment
