EA's profanity filter and custom draft classes after the last update

What is going with EA's profanity filter since this last update with these custom draft classes??? All of a sudden you can't have Penei Sewell's first name be Penei because apparently it "The text you entered is either profane or contains too many numerics. Please try again." A couple more examples would be Azeez Ojulari from Georgia it now flags Azeez as "profane" and Eric Stokes, I guess Stokes is somehow now considered a profanity. This is going to be really annoying if you like to use custom draft classes.

I was wondering when someone would mention this. Wasn’t sure until just now that is on any draft class. Very disappointing new problem.

This is ridiculous. If people want "profanity" in their classes, so be it. Just put a warning for kids or something.

Exactly, to top it off the things that it is flagging as profanity is ridiculous. Like Penei, what???? Stokes??

There is a warning in the game when you go to download community files about profanity and such.

Is profanity the only factor here? I always though that licensing of some kind might be an issue because some of the censoring makes no sense. Like maybe some of the players don't want their names on Madden or something?

I refuse to buy this years Madden; However, in the past I have been prevented from using some of these names:

Gay... They censored the name Gay.
              Njigba
              Cox
              Likness
              Zuniga
              Dy kes*

Kind of hard to make realistic draft classes when they have higher censorship standards than most Sunday Schools.

Lol if you thought it was bad in Madden 20 ever since this last update they just rolled out for 21 the censor has only gotten 10x worst. It's really bad, there are so many real names that I can't use. There's a 2021 draft class that I had downloaded made some edits and saved locally weeks ago and had no issue with a lot of these names. All of a sudden I go to import it in to a new franchise I started and quite a few names were missing and just replaced with *****. I went and downloaded some classes from the share just to see if it was only an issue with my locally saved class, but it's not it looks like they have made the filter ridiculously strict.

One of the funniest to me is Cox, because they already have Fletcher Cox in game and it doesn't sensor his name out. It also censored out Conner, I had to edit it and spell it Connor. It just makes zero sense, I get filtering out ACTUAL offensive words but how are some real names censored?? Like Azeez Ojulari?? How can Azeez really be looked at as offensive by a profanity filter?

Happened to me today as well...tried editing a Center to Landon Dickerson....nope...last name contained profanity[emoji849]

Now he’s known as Landon Nickerson[emoji849]

The game won't let me use my own damn name in The Yard, so I hear y'all on the draconian profanity filter haha.

yup lmao, i do the draft classes in my league and this season i didn't even change certain names and they still got flagged as profanity. So the actual default Madden generated classes don't even give you names that are allowed lol

I'm hoping this step-up in censorship is setting up the ability to let us rename our teams once again. I would always look forward to taking control of a team, making it my own, and moving to a new city and renaming it something creative (not to mention unique uniforms and stadium). It made franchise mode very unique and special.
Not sure if people abusing this by naming their teams something profane and posting online is what caused this feature to by reined in, but if this is a way to solve it, I'm for it.

Same. I don't want to dl this patch yet. Can anyone confirm this player naming issue is all around or just for online players/franchises? I'm primarily offline.
