Yeah that is not ideal. This is kind of why EA really should re-design defensive personnel depth charts. Should be separate edge rushers from interior lineman rather than the current set up

At least if you are using the team you can change it but for AI controlled the logic isn't perfect.

Yeah that is what I noticed too. And often times it doesn't even line up with the teams original scheme. Like some have speed rushing DTs for Nickel but run base scheme calling for power rusher.

Bingo.

Changing who is in at the specialist spots via formation subs is easy enough. However, the sim engine uses those positions to determine snap counts and sacks, so that is why I am wondering if there is a more permanent fix.

Outside of doing a 32 team control offline franchise I don't really think there is a way to fix it exactly how you would want it.
