Barely played but from what I've seen so far is it's pretty darn close to last year gameplay wise.

Is old gen not getting the changes for striped socks?

So reading this it appears the game isn't worth it unless you're on next gen. That sucks but I can't say I'm surprised.

Anyone else noticing the menus feeling a bit more sluggish compared to previous years? It has kind of ruined the franchise mode experience for me as someone who is in the menus a good amount of time, I just came away from it thinking I'd rather just stick to quick play exhibition matches.

And as someone who plays All Pro default simulation, the AI still seems to have some trouble running the ball. The AI passing seems mostly the same, and there were some opportunities they could've scrambled but didn't. I think I might've seen some new animations here and there too, but nothing major.

But all in all, this feels like a very slight upgrade and more attention must've been spent on the newer PS5/Xbox Series version. Which isn't terribly surprising, but I don't think I'll keep playing past the trial.

After giving a few games a shot, I've decided I won't be playing yet again this year. Disappointing because the game looks really good on next gen.

Still can't believe PC isn't next gen despite nearly every PC player having superior hardware to next gen.

Oh well... looks like I'm waiting for FIFA (where PC got shafted as well). Luckily if the game is worth it, I can at least check it out on Stadia to play a next gen version.

Played 2 games of the chiefs bucs intro. First as Bucs and then chiefs. Both games were on All pro.

Pros
Running feels better. Smoother. It feels less jerky than last year. Reminds me of ps2 era madden in terms of fun and responsiveness. It's especially noticable on kick returns in open space.

Seems like runners play to their style a bit more. You get outcomes that make sense.

Defense has been buffed by quite a bit. Defenders especially in the middle of the field seem to attack receivers in their zone more and stick to their men a lot better in general.

AI qbs spread the ball around more. I saw them target wide receivers more than last year.

Pass rush has been buffed as well.

Menus seem more smooth.

Transitions seem to be more smooth as well on the field.

Broken tackles happen quicker and it's more responsive after breaking a tackle

CPU qbs get rid of the ball pretty quick.

Cons

Not really seeing more new animations especially when it comes to tackles.

Saw Brady drop back and back and back once. He did throw the ball away to avoid the sack.

No new presentation elements unless you include updated screen wipes.

CPU runners move around more but are again pretty indecisive.

Saw a ton of drops picks and passes but I think it's probably a bug.

Hit sticks are still way too automatic in this game.

My big takeaway so far is that it's Madden 21 with some tweaks. It seems like an upgrade from last year but it's mostly just tuning stuff and nothing groundbreaking. Haven't tried franchise yet as I'm still waiting for the full game to finish downloading. I'll have more to say tomorrow after playing more.
