Long story short. I downloaded the Xbox X version and now when I go to try and load up the Xbox X version I get an error message and only recognizing the Xbox One version. My question then is, is it possible to keep both versions/generations on my Xbox where they will both boot up? If so, then what do I need to do to address this error message I get? Thanks for your help!

Way to Play Madden 22 Across Generations (Both One & X Versions) on Xbox X?
When I downloaded my Madden 22 copy the other day on my Xbox the Xbox One version downloaded instead of X. I thought it was odd that the game looked a lot like last year, but I enjoyed the game nonetheless. Next time I booted up my Xbox X I saw that the Xbox One version downloaded instead.

Re: Way to Play Madden 22 Across Generations (Both One & X Versions) on Xbox X?
Just a quick clarification do you mean a Series X? (There's an Xbox One X, and the new Xbox Series X...yes MS's naming conventions are rough but "Xbox X" doesn't really tell us anything).
Assuming you have the next gen Xbox Series X, just note the game does not feature Smart Delivery. This is Microsoft's system of always making sure a game has the BEST version running for your system. EA has elected to not use this for Madden.
What this means is that "Madden 22 for Xbox one" and "Madden 22 for Series X|S" are treated as 2 completely separate games.
Just because you buy the Xbox One version, you do not own the new Series X|S version. They ARE however bundled together in the MVP or Dynasty edition. You can see what you own by going to the Games and Apps menu, Full Library, Games. If you do not see 2 versions of Madden 22 you only own 1 version, and you will need to buy the upgrade. -
Re: Way to Play Madden 22 Across Generations (Both One & X Versions) on Xbox X?
Thank You! You are correct I have the next gen Series X console. My Madden 22 version is the MVP edition and that's what I thought that my console will treat them as 2 separate games, and yes when I check my games library two Madden 22 versions show, however, for whatever reason only the current gen (Xbox One X) will boot up. I get an error message for the next gen version like my disc is not being recognized (only for current gen). Is there a fix so my console recognizes the disc for both versions?
The reason for my question is that I like playing both versions. The current gen plays like last year while the next gen version has been more difficult (but fun) with the momentum feature and I have to knock my skill level down as result.Comment

Re: Way to Play Madden 22 Across Generations (Both One & X Versions) on Xbox X?
When I click on the next gen Xbox X/S version a message then appears "Do you own this game or app?" ..."If you have a game disc, insert it now. If you bought this online, make sure you're signed in. If you don't have rights for playing it, you'll need to get it at the Microsoft store"
I have tried re-inserting the game disc, but that doesn't work.Comment

Re: Way to Play Madden 22 Across Generations (Both One & X Versions) on Xbox X?
Figured it out. The issue was that I did not redeem the code enclosed at the Microsoft store.
Entered the code and now both versions work. I had a similar issue with NBA 2K21 and now I know to redeem the code with the dual Xbox One/X S versions.
