The 2k games have some great features but remember that programming AI to juggle 10-15 guys at 5 positions is a lot easier than programming juggling 65 or more guys at over 20 different positions. (Especially in the NBA where 5-6 guys per team are usually clearly better than everybody else).

They have the advantage of referencing similar scale environments that have been used in Soccer Management sims for over 30 years. The base work is there and long established.

It's a much easier scenario than doing a Football game. EA really needs to shift focus from gimmicki modes to have any chance to improve these things.

Shouldn't Madden be able to use that advantage as well, since you know, soccer is 11 on 11, with fairly deep rosters, and way more complicated substitution and transaction rules (not 69 players but still)?

In soccer each team has a max of 14 players on their team playing each game. As a quick reference - the Bucs had 37+ players log at least one snap last night alone.

No to mention the substitution rules in soccer are pretty straightforward... you get 3, that's about the extent of it. Transaction rules in soccer really aren't that complicated either and there's no salary cap to manage.

That's fair, I guess I was also thinking that in most Soccer Sims there are quite a few more than 32 teams.

Also the added transaction of player loans is always what throws me with big time soccer.

I can imagine. It would cost about $1000 to play with all the features.
