Scheme Fit

What are the benefits to having a player that shows "Scheme Fit"?

For example, I have a starter who isn't a "Scheme Fit" or even close but his OVR is higher than 2nd String player that is a "Scheme Fit",

Thanks!

Re: Scheme Fit

Scheme-fit players gain XP at a higher rate, that’s all it means/does.

Re: Scheme Fit

Although isn't there a thing you unlock in the HC tree (which takes a few games to unlock for the rest of the coaches career) that makes every player a scheme fit, regardless of scheme, so it doesn't matter really if anyone is a scheme fit?

Re: Scheme Fit

It sort of matters for certain positions depending on how you want to play or want your franchise to run. For example if you want to run a 4-3 with linebackers primarily in pass coverage a 97 power rusher who's a 72 pass coverage player isn't going to be a good fit at OLB. Same thing if you want to run an option or scramble-heavy offense but you have a Field General with no running skill. There are other examples. The other side of it is that you can adjust your scheme and move players around depending on the talent you have. For example if you find an OLB who's great at pass coverage but you want your OLBs to rush you can move him to MLB.

Re: Scheme Fit

Yep, as a 3-4 team, there's not always a ton of great edge pass rushers in the OLB, but a lot of times the smaller 4-3 DEs that are speed or power rushers are easily converted to 3-4 OLBs just like in the NFL and make great 3-4 edge rushers.
