Defensive Adjustment Advice

Hey all. I primarily play vs the CPU in franchise. I feel like I’m getting better at reading defenses and calling plays on offense. But on defense, I feel like I’m still very limited. It’s basically “oh they have three wide, run a nickel” level of defensive coaching.

There are all kinds of potential defensive adjustments. The things in R3, but also stuff you can do pre-play like shifting the line etc.

Does anyone have any good advice or resources to help me understand when I might want to use different adjustments? Like, when would I want to slant the d-line in/out/left/right? When would I want the CBs to be over vs underneath?

Etc etc.
