Pressing Y for Pickoffs

So I'm having a frustrating issue. When the opposing quarterback throws a deep ball, I switch over to the CB and press Y to intercept the ball but 9 times out of 10 my guy doesn't even jump which leads to the WR catching it, almost every single time. Am I doing something wrong or is this an issue that happens to others as well?

It's weird, bc I was up by two touchdowns and then they came back and tied it off of two bombs that my CB wouldn't jump for. Then late in the 4th quarter I picked them off twice to secure the win. It's just weird that it works fine sometimes, and then other times it doesn't. Now I'm not expecting to pick off the ball Everytime I press Y, but at least go up and try and knock it down or something.

I just started pressing the swat button because of how little I was able to pick off those deep balls

I'd take the DB stone hands we used to have over this junk any day. So frustrating when they just stand there and pretend like you didn't press a button. The dev team has been really open about all of the issues and future plans for the game so i'm sure we'll hear something about this





...next summer when they're trying to sell another game lol

I was having this issue after the latest update. I pretty much found that if you press the Y/Triangle a lil bit earlier, you’ll have a lil more success

I seem to have better luck when I also set coaching to "play ball" on deep passes. Maybe it's a coincidence. Also, the last game I played, I had it set to "swat ball," and for once my AI guy starting swatting the ball before I even pressed a button. Or so it seemed (it's possible I'm misremembering).
