The Pistol Offense and/in Madden
I'm currently having lots of fun studying up on the Raid and building an offense on some core Raid concepts.
I want to strengthen and diversify my run game in S2 of my franchise, and I'm contemplating incorporating some pistol.
I have some questions for the scheme geeks here to that end:
Can someone point me to an article or a couple articles on the basic principles of the pistol and to its core run/pass concepts? I've kind of picked up that downhill running via the inside zone was a key commitment of the Nevada pistol coach and that the combination of a dual-threat QB via an option game and a boot game seemed vital to the passing offense. Are there other staple plays, in the same way that you're going to see 92 and 91, for example, at the heart of many Raid offenses?
I'm also wondering about how the pistol works in Madden as opposed to real life. Are there aspects of how the formations and plays work/don't work that I should be aware of as I try to grow my scheme and playbook in this direction?
I'm using Jalen Hurts as my QB (trade Carr to PHI in the tear-down), and I want to maximize his unique athletic abilities; this seems like a potentially good way to do so.
Thanks in advance for any and all input!
