It's pretty workable to build up some ridiculous receiving stats just from the 3RDB position, just with basic backfield routes (that is, without a ton of motions or hot routes), especially when you consider Shanahan's usage of screens. Add motioning him out of the backfield and using hot routes, and the possibilities are pretty silly.

Going that route, you'd want to get the Hot Route SS ability on either him or the QB...in particular, that unlocks angle (Texas) routes as a Hot route option.

As was stated, that'll let you get him on the SLWR depth chart...which is probably where he's the most effective anyway.

One problem with sticking him as FB or TE (assuming you'd have Kittle as TE1 still) is that the default special teams formations use the FB and depth TEs on ST....not sure if that's a concern for you or not.

I drafted a 5'8 vertical threat WR who ended up having A Carry and A break tackle, so I converted him to RB and he was a receiving back, but I also made sure he was my #1 slot receiver. Gets plenty of looks in the slot and plenty of time in the backfield. Gets him pretty active on jet sweeps, but also just standard routes and carries. Being in the slot there are a lot of bubbles as well.

to piggy back off my earlier post, I started a new franchise and changed Marquise Goodwin over to a HB to mimic that type of player. and it's worked out great. His 96 speed and other attributes make him a decent RB but I love having him catch out of the backfield

I like your idea of changing him to a TE.

Could you do that and then change him back to a WR the week before Pro-Bowl goes out so that he's in the WR race?

The best position for him is RB. During the game, you can actually put him high on the depth chart at WR. So I have him outside, in the slot and at rb. This can only be changed in game though..

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been doing. I just go thru a lot of formations on my first play and put him at different WR spots while still keeping him RB in some forms. Then i super sim some and play a little too. Just wish there was a way to have it play out correct in sims without having to enter the game.

Yeah the in game depth chart is different from the franchise home screen. It should be an easy fix for Madden but don't know if they'll do it
