I am finishing up season one and I decided to add characters to play the NFC and AFC Championship games. In the AFC one, the Chiefs are playing the Browns and neither team has any injuries but both teams are playing guys way down their depth chart. Cleveland has in a backup offensive lineman at TE and is playing their FB at HB.

KC has backups at WR, TE and HB.

Is the game broken?

It’s progressive fatigue. The patch didn’t entirely fix this, so CPU teams are wearing their players out too much over the course of the season doing full practices. Turn this off in the settings (fatigue won’t bounce back until the following season though).
