You say that dev trait affects things, I'm guessing higher traits on the whole have higher potential and are more likely to bloom early? What happens if a player's trait changes dynamically after having their potential set?
Yes that is correct. When first run every eligible player gets a potential and years to reach potential. Yes you can see the potential. Just go to review and unprotect the sheet. Select all columns, right click, then click unhide. Find the "actual potential" column. That is their official potential.

Dev traits don't have a higher potential (all players can reach 99 Ovr) but they do have a higher chance of rolling a higher potential and they do have a floor. Meaning they can't be lower than a certain value.

So another question (sorry!), how does it work with players given a potential lower than there current rating?

Also just to double check, do practice squad players/free agents progress? Looking at the actual sheet it looks like they do, but they don't come up on the progress report.

Lower potential then Ovr means no progression for them. They are a bust.

Yes PS and FA will progress but not unless signed to the active roster. Their points are kept track of and accumulate so they don't lose any earned. They won't show up on the report unless they are signed to a roster because it would be cheating to see how many points they earned without actually progressing yet.

I get you, the only thing I'd say is it would be good if they did on P/S so you can all up players who've developed under your "coaching" if that makes sense.

I'm guessing even if you call up a player they won't get their points added under week 8/16 as per others?

Amazing spreadsheet work btw.

But see then that would be unfair to the cpu who won't be able to progress their PS players until they are on the roster after the regular season ends (or the teams playoff run ends). It's kind of a Fog of War type thing. If you need to sign a player from you PS to fill a need and he happens to have 10 skill points waiting to be used that's just damn good luck on your part. Same for the cpu. Or you stealing a PS player from another team. Personally I don't want to know and it's why I have it set that way. However anytime you want to know what your PS players have you can click on them and it will show up in their player card.

Thanks about the spreadsheet. I tried real hard to make it very clear for whoever wanted to check out the engine of this beast lol.

Makes sense, much like we had to have “house rules” to get around gameplay issues.

In a perfect world maybe you’d get coach prompts in CFM that P/S players have been performing well in training and suggesting calling them up (I.e. they’ve progressed). But, still you’d no have idea if they’ve hit their ceiling.

Maybe by Madden 30...

Re: TDawg3782's Madden 20 CFM Progression Tool

So I just did my first progression using v3 in season 3 of a CFM where I had already started with v2. It seems to have worked well, but I noticed in the progression report no one over 4 years pro got any progression (which I guessing is actually 5th year players in Madden, as the value in the spread sheet starts at 0).

It's my understanding v3 allows up to 6 year pros to be progressed. Is it just by chance no one in their 6th season got any progression in the 1st run? Also, on that topic, is it less likely a player will get progression in their 6th season or is the progression window size evenly random across 1 to 6 years?
